The church is very quiet and have a praying feeling. We stay for the praying service at 6 pm and was very interesting. I barely understand but was good for my kid to see that faith level.

This is a working abbey staffed by Benedictine monks; in fact you may visit the shrine of St Benedict, the father of Western monasticism in the crypt. The church is open from 6.30 am until 10.00 pm, entry is quite free, and you may wander...More

This is a Benedictine abbey with a long history. It still has an active community and the services, beautifully sung in Latin and French, are well worth staying for. The abbey church is stunning as is the crypt.

This is a fine and important restored Romanesque building. It came to prominence following the audacious exploits of its monks in AD 672, who brought back the body of the great St Benedict from Monte Cassino. As a result it became a great place of...More

This is a great pilgrimage church, as it houses the holy relics of Saint Benedict, the founder of the Benedictine Order. It is a classical example of Romanesque architecture, and very spiritual to visit. The capitals on the columns under the porch are very early...More

Saint-Benoit is a marvel of romanesque architecture of the early 11th century, and is still home to monks of the order of Saint Benedict. The square tower-porch alone is worth a look, the 12 capitals tell the stories from the apocalypse and new testament. The...More
