Maipés Archaeological Park is located in the village of Agaete in the north west of Gran Canaria. Maipés is a volcanic lava plain in which a burial ground used by the ancient inhabitants of the island is preserved. There are almost 700 tombs, some of which were constructed over 1.300 years ago.

Very good information and well signposted on this walk. Probably completely new knowledge of indigenous peoples and its burial sites. Be completely lonely as a visitor most of the times.

The man who sold us tickets spoke good English €3 for adults, kids free. It’s a fascinating sight and very interesting! I highly recommend it for anyone aged 5-80.

This is a very well presented and fascinating archaeological site. Entrance was €3 for adults and our kids (8 and 10) were free and for that you get an annual ticket! It has toilets and is thoughtfully laid out with access for those who are...More

Fascinating and informative, 3€ entry fee great value for money. Walkways are easy to manage, pram & wheelchair access as well. Beautiful views of the valley and looking down to the sea.

This was something! Near the village Agaete very informative exhibition. Arangements was done well and iron path and fences suitable for the lava tombs.

Very reasonable priced . Well set out and accessible site. Amazing history of Gran Canaria -but then we love archaelology and seek these sites out. Kids would love it .
