We got a taxi from Puerto Santiago for 17 euros (between 4 of us). Santiago del Teide looks really nice but we didn't have time to look round. We walked down the road from the tourist info building (with an orange tree and a statue...More
Right at one end of Santiago Del Teide is the visitor centre. This has a small museum and video on the most recent volcanic eruption on Tenerife. This was enjoyable and informative on what happened when the Chinyero volcano in 1909. If you are in...More
Good stop on the way, you can access to Masca city. . Which has a very interesting road and views to check. The city has from my point of view nothing particular. Not much alive with few cafe opened and one nice small church
Always good to get away from the tourist areas and see local life. Small village on route to Mount Teide. Church, shop, but not a lot else. Quick stop, took some photos, then it was on our way. Keep an eye out for the almond...More

the hotel La Casona Del Patio has a very good reputation, and in a nice garden setting. We have only called in for a drink of coffee, so can't comment on the food, but it's worth a visit, just to take a look around. As you pass the church in the square on your right, a few yards along you'll see the driveway to the hotel, which you can drive down and park your car. Another more basic but very Spanish restaurant is a couple of miles out of Santiago del Teide, going back towards Tamaimo, but not as far. You'll need a car to get there, although the bus stops right outside, if my memory serves me right. We have eaten here several times, very varied menu, good food, good quantities, very good prices and very attentive and polite staff. It is called Vista Guama and is set back a little from the road. Enjoy!
