This is one of the best local museums I have ever visited. Situated in a deconsecrated church of beautiful simplicity, it presents a rich selection of carved altarpieces, statues, paintings and other sacred treasures including an exquisitely fashioned silver processional cross, all from local churches, convents and monasteries. The altarpieces in the Plateresque style are full of lively carved tableaux of biblical scenes. When we visited, we were greeted by a knowledgable and enthusiastic young custodian who was taking groups around the exhibits. Though full of treasures the museum is small enough to be fully appreciated in half an hour. Good postcards too.

This church is in stark contrast to nearby Santa Maria. Sacro Iglesia de San Juan has a beautiful feel to its relative simplicity and (close to) sterness.
