I would recommend this place to be visited during sunset, it’s spectacular. The view from the light house is mesmerizing during sunset with an orange reddish glow! Don’t forget to go near the ship wreck near by, the sea would take the remaining soon!

Nice view over Cape Agulhas. It is a little windy at the top so make sure you hold onto your hats, phones/cameras etc.
If you are afraid of heights or aren't too comfortable climbing up and down ladders this is not for you - if you are - it is worth a visit.

Although not our first time at this beautiful landmark, it was our first time with small kids and it definitely makes the experience a bit more daunting. The staff is friendly and did warm us that the steps might be a little steep for young ones. We could go all the way up and peer out the windows even in windy conditions. The bathrooms are clean.

One cannot visit L'Agulhas without a stop at the famous Lighthouse overlooking the most southern tip of Africa. This time around what made it extra special is that my 3 year old son got to climb to the top and he enjoyed every second of it and was one of the highlights of our entire holiday. If there is one pit stop to make in L'Agulhas it is the Lighthouse.

On the day we arrived, we could not access the interior of the lighthouse as this is not allowed during lockdown. The exterior is still a beautifull building as well as the area surrounding it. Its been a goal for some of u sin the group to see the lighthouse and we totally understand why its not accessible during the lockdown, however its still amazing to view it up close in person.

The lighthouse is situated at the southernmost tip of Africa. Inside is a museum which costs 35 rand to go in. You can climb the 70+ steps to the top to take in the views. There is currently a display on marine conservation. Well worth a visit.

We stopped by the lighthouse after going to the most Southern point of Africa. Entry was cheap. There was some interesting information on posters, but that's about it. I went all the way up the 71 very steep steps & the view from the top was spectacular! In all honesty, it's not the most informative or exciting expedition at all, BUT, well worth it for the view. Not ideal for senior citizens or someone with weak legs/knees though.

Excellent value for money and well worth the steep climb to the very top, but be aware the wind can be VERY strong (like whip your glasses off strong). Gorgeous 360 views and the small museum at its base is well worth a look.

Interesting exhibit.
Climb up to the top for fantastic views.
R26 per person.
3 "sets of stairs" - ladders really and a final narrow, rather wobbly ladder which takes you to the top.
A challenge but great fun and really very accessible - two in our group were 70+ and both managed with a lot of laugher and encouragement.
There should be a wind warning at the top! Many a hat must have been lost as you step out into the walkway at the top.
Beautiful views.
Toilets for the public were filthy! They are only cleaned once a day - in the morning. Ask at the ticket office to use the toilet in the lighthouse. This one is for the staff and was clean enough.

Dec 28: The drive to the southern most tip of Africa is beyond doubt amazing. The views are stunning. There is a light house and then one has to go further down to be at the southern most tip of Africa. While it is a bucket list ticked off, the views are superb. The weather in summer was good but when we went again in winter, it was very windy and cold. Also, we realised that if one reached before 4 pm, one can go up the light house and actually see the different colours of Atlantic and Indian ocean. Worth the drive from Hermanus.

Please tell me if a family of 4 needs to book to see the lighthouse and what it would cost for the family in April 2019. Thanks.

It’s just walk up and pay-no booking required. It’s very reasonably priced and affords great views. Be aware that the ladders to the top are steep and skirts/flip-flops are not advisable.
