About
Situated in the heart of the Durbanville Wine Valley you will find our family owned and run wine cellar. At Nitida we believe that beautiful wines come from day to day thoughtful management of our vineyards, which makes us one of the most consistently awarded and loved boutique wine cellars in South Africa. Take a stroll through our cellars, enjoy an artisanal wine tasting or come dine at one of our estate restaurants.

Wine tasting
Mar 2020
This has long been one of my favourite wine cellars. Located on the Durbanville route Nitida is easily accessible from most parts of Cap Town.

The wine tasting venue combines maturing wine in casks with one of the most beautiful wooden counters you will find anywhere.

Charlotte made our wine tasting enjoyable and offered excellent information and advice.

Tasters can select from more than one tasting selection and purchase wine at cellar prices. Make sure you taste the MCCs (Matriarch and Grande Matriarch) and especially the Calligraphy. Don't forget to buy your wine soonest as stock sells out really quickly. For example, Semillon is already sold out.

If you're hungry you can get a bite to eat at the informal Tables (which is very family friendly) or the fine dining Cassia on-site.

Wine tasting in the cellar
Mar 2019 • Friends
The wine tasting room is part of the cellar where dozens of barrels are stored. There is a selection of 2 types of wine tastings. 4 wines of your choice from either of the ranges. Friendly staff made the experience even better.

i spent the early afternoon doing a wine tasting before lunch.
I was treated to an interesting tasting of both sparkling white and still wines.of note was the Golden Orb SB and the Coronata Integration.
The Stand out red's were a Bordeaux blend Calligraphy and a Pinot Noir.
The tasting was performed by a very well informed staff.

Wine Tasting & Lunch
Oct 2018 • Friends
We had a wonderful time tasting the boutique wines of Nitida Cellars, the wine labels are unique and very special. Loved them all. The staff was very accommodation and helpful. We had lunch at Tables which was really good. The Nachos are the Best!! We ordered a few things to go on a "platter", so that's nice and flexible. The cellars wine is available, but is much more expensive, if you buy at the cellar and pay corkage it will still be cheaper. Maybe they can consider a deal between the Cellar & Tables to make the price difference a bit more realistic. All in all we had a great time.

Wine tasting and lunch with a view
Aug 2018 • Couples
Nitida is a stunning place to visit. The grounds are lush and vast and the views simply amazing. We went for a break away morning and ended up at Nitida "accidently". Bless, the car guide, was super friendly and knowledgeable and suggested a tasting before lunch. He said it was a quick walk to the cellars however his idea and my idea of quick are different! Nevertheless, a very scenic walk. After arriving whacked from the "quick" walk we were greeted by a very Shelly. The wine tasting was an absolute pleasure. Shelly is friendly and knowledgeable. From there we went to the restaurant where a very friendly waitress Courtney assisted us! The staff at Nitida plus the views that surround the place make it a very worthwhile and memorable experience. I would highly recommend Nitida!!!

Father's Day
Jun 2018 • Friends
We decided to go for a picnic at Nitida Farm for Father's Day. Impressed with the good bag for the grown ups and als for the kids. It was cold and cloudy but they gave us a table inside. We had such a fun time and enjoyed it so much. Lovely play area for the kids!

What a nice wines we found out. We were driving around in durbanville which is only 20 minutes from cape town and ended up in nitida cellars. There tasting was very nice. The fire place was on because it was a bit chilly. With the tasting you can order a cheese plate or a meat plate. There are also 2 restaurants on the site.

Something a bit different
Feb 2018 • Couples
Wine and South Africa are synonymous, especially when doing the tourist trails. Everywhere you look there are tours available through those glorious white gates as you drive around the province but most of these are set up for large scale invasions of tourists and we wanted and hoped to find a much smaller, quieter winery but weren’t quite sure how to go about this as there isn’t much on the net.
Amongst all the lovely wines of SA we came across one that was particularly exceptional; a Riesling by the name of Nitida. From this point on we then discovered that Nitida was a small vineyard making handmade wines located in Durbanville just outside Cape Town. It took us a bit of trouble to find it as neither the address or the GPS coordinates took us to the right place but we found it eventually and we are so glad we took the trouble.

Charlotte was our hostess and we were the only ones there when we first arrived. They were just bringing in a grape harvest and we got to watch how the grapes are stripped from the bunches and the juice extracted to the tank. The wines we chose to taste were a mixture of whites and reds. The young guy who seems to be their viticulturist was also very helpful. The wines were good, particularly the aforementioned Nitida Riesling, The Tinkery (2017) and their Coronata Integration. I’m just trying to find out now where we can find them in Europe!!

As well as the wine tasting there is also a restaurant and a cafe on the site. From previous reviews these don’t seem to be as good as the wines, we tried the cafe rather than the restaurant and it was OK, not brilliant but OK.

If you are looking for a quieter winery without all the tourist hype then I can certainly recommend Nitida and their excellent wines.
