On a Southbound trip after exploring Namibia, we opted for a stop at Bundi before crossing back into SA. Whilst we did not use the river rafting options on offer by Bundi we opted for a simple comfortable night's rest before tackling the last leg of our return journey to Cape Town. The room we got is well-appointed, clean, and a welcome relief after 3 weeks in a rooftop tent. As we got there in the early afternoons, we opted to explore the surrounding area and on a recommendation from the management team they gave us directions to a quiver tree forest not far from the site. We headed out along the trail found the quiver tree forest and enjoyed an amazing sunset. What a fantastic experience. Truly magical.
Bundi is more than just river rafting and would highly recommend it.

We were a group of five men plus the wife of one of the men. Our ages vary from 50 to 84 years old. On 11. November 2022, we left Cape Town 8am and reached the Bundi Camp late afternoon. Border crossing was quick and unproblematic. After a welcome braai we went to bed early in the chalets we had booked.
After breakfast the next morning we received safety instructions, loaded the boats and off we went.
We spend four days/three nights on the river, sleeping on sand banks. The first night we put up a tent but thereafter slept in the open under the most magnificent starry sky. We went down various rapids, the most impressive one called "Sjambok" which was exhilarating. The inflatable canoes are comfortable and solid and none of us flipped over.
The water current assists paddling - only when the river runs wide and slow and a headwind blows, be prepared to work.
Food was aplenty, prepared on open fires fueled by driftwood.
Our two river guides were friendly and efficient, and their strength and fitness were awesome.
On the afternoon of the fourth day, we were picked up with an airconditioned vehicle, brought back to Bundi Camp and had a farewell braai in the evening.
Next morning after breakfast we drove back to Cape Town.

I recently embarked on a 5-day river rafting adventure that left me utterly thrilled. It was undeniably one of the best experiences of my life. The trip was expertly guided by Paul Roberts and Paul Engelbregdt, who went above and beyond to ensure every moment was memorable. From navigating the rapids to attending to the smallest details, and even taking us to explore two mines, their dedication was truly on point. A fantastic journey that exceeded all expectations! We will be back in the future. This is one of those must do trips.

We have just completed the 4 day river rafting. We were a group of 8 ..
We did the orange river, just outside Noordoewer on the namibian side.
First night at the base camp and last night at the base camp.
Our rooms at the base camp were very basic and not very clean..We took the package where we got the tents, chairs, sleeping bags and cutlery.
My husbands sleeping bag was fine, mine i am sure was a childrens size. Luckily i am small so could fit in..Check your size sleeping bag before leaving for the river.
Not well organized on the day when we started rowing. The night that we arrived, after supper, Ronnie(our one guide) gave us a brief chat about toilet facilities and rowing etc.
We were only given our sleeping bags at about 10am so then could only start packing our blue drums. It would have been far better if we had received the sleeping bags the night that we arrived so we could pack and get organized.
Our guides ronnie and rastas tried very hard and worked very hard to prepare our meals .
The one tent had some poles missing so the guides used poles from their tent to make the tent work. They had to then sleep under the gazebo and used the canoes as a wind shield.
The guides also had no light or candle or lantern for the evenings.
The rowing on the river was fantastic. We luckily had good weather.
Just a hint, winter is coming so pack in an inner for your sleeping bag and perhaps even a thermal blanket and hot water bottle.
The scenary along the way is breath taking.
Once we had completed the rowing the kombi picked us up with all our supplies and transferred us back to base camp where we all had a very well deserved shower.
We left very early , before breakfast to get through the border.
As south africans we just showed our covid certificates and didnt have to do an antigen test.
So overall, there seems to be no supervison. We did not meet the manager or supervisor. The two guides really tried their best to get us on the river and keep us safe and fed.
With a bit of supervision, the equipment will be in a better condition, guests will receive their supplies early and the base camp will be much cleaner.
The meat on the last night was really tough so the majority of us just ate the potatoes and garlic bread.
The time on the river was fantastic though.

Thank you to the owner, Paul, who refurbished and built a room to make it wheelchair friendly for us. That was totally amazing. For the whole 3 days the staff could not do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. We had lovely sunsets and drinks on the deck with good food.
The fishing guides, Henning SeaMonster and Matthew made Warren's trip one to remember and the boat staff were fantastic. The base camp manager and his staff were also excellent.
We will definitely be back.

Shocking experience. Camp was dirty (blood on the sheets, previous occupants dirty socks in the bed), under staffed with no management oversight. We all got bitten by bed bugs. Toilets backed up. Food below average. Guides were sweet but ill prepared for the river. First aid kit pathetic, no patches for the boats, we did not feel in that we were in safe hands.
Only redeeming aspect was the beautiful location something Bundi couldn't mess up.

We have just completed a 4 day, five family trip with Bundi down the Orange River. We used Bundi for they were the most professional when we researched all existing outfitters. The experience on the River was even better, with fantastic guides and excellent food for the whole family. The care, input around safety and the service as a whole was excellent. We had a fantastic, memorable family and friends holiday, A must for anyone wanting something different. The facilities are not four star but are adequate and good for the the purpose of such a vacation.

I can really recommend a 5-day trip with Bundi on the Orange River. The scenery is breathtaking and Bundi's team made sure that everyone had a fabulous and safe time.
Despite the fact that there is a whole globe to explore, I would do this trip again and again if I had the opportunity.

We just had a fantastic 5 day trip down the Orange River with Bundi Adventures (who I think took over from "River Rafters". We had a mixed group of adults and kids and were looked after fantastically. Bundi run the river in "crocs" rather than the fiberglass canoes that other trip organizers use and for us these were so much better. Yes the canoes are faster and easier to paddle - but the crocs are much more stable (good thing with kids!) in the rapids and a lot more fun when you just want to mess around.
The food was fantastic each meal - the one with roast chicken , lamb and pork made on a camp fire was incredible!
80% of the campsites were great - especially the "golf course" - one night our planned stop was taken by another group and the alternative campsite was pretty rough ...I really think the various groups need to liase a bit more on this aspect to cut out this situation....
The river / rapids are fine for young kids or grandparents and the amount of daily rowing is also very easy - swimming was amazing
The scenery is something out of this world and the fishing was tops (all catch and release) and we also saw lots of bird life
Our guide "Ronnie" and his crew of Pedro and Lenardo were great - always there to help and organize
This is a highly recommended trip!!

Hi there,
We are busy booking the 3 day trip for next june/july.
I am just worried about the amount of clothing we can take with us on the river- I get very cold and even thermals may not be enough for me to sleep in.
Also when on the river in the cold do your guests still just wear a costumn or board shorts etc etc?
Summer I guess is way more comfortable- its the winter that I am worried about.
Written 23 October 2019
Hi there Debbie,
June /July is a good time to go onto the river if you prefer cooler temperatures. You can expect temperatures between 26° high/ 10° low.
There is limited space for clothing to go with on your trip - all clothing, camping gear and anything you need to keep dry needs to fit into our watertight blue barrel with a capacity of about 60 liters. This barrel is shared between 2 people.
Regarding the clothing, during the day it will be warmer. Most people then wear swim wear and board shorts. At times one might need something like a wind-breaker. The nights you will need a good jacket, beanie and tracksuit. Your sleeping bag also needs to be a good quality thermal sleeping bag - especially if you get cold easily.
Summer holds it's own challenges with the Namibian sun. However, be it summer or winter on the Orange River, it is an unforgettable experience.
I hope this will helps.

Hi Guys,
We are hoping to book an orange river tour with you guys for next year Feb.
I just have a couple of quick questions;
1. If we decide to use the shuttle service..where do we meet up? In Durbanville?
2. Do you have any tour dates for next year Feb?
Written 31 July 2018
Good choice to use us as your service provider on the Orange. Note that February can be VERY HOT.
1. The shuttle service normally depart where the most people are coming from. Durbanville is a good start should there be a couple of people wanting to leave their cars.
2. you can decide on your won tour dates so far in advance. You get 2018 prices for 2019 should you pay your deposit of R500pp before the end September 2018.
