It is a small but significant memorial for the 13 generals executed by the Hapsburg in 1849 in Arad, Romania. (at the time Arad was part of Hungary)

After the 1848/49 revolution in Hungary against the Habsburgs, the leading generals were brought to GYula, and from here they have been transpeorted to Arad (Oradea) were they were executed. This memorial is in their memory at the old castle.
