Overview
More
Not all of the sites on Hadrian's Wall were heavily guarded fortresses. Corbridge was a supply base and bustling town where the Romans and civilians would pick up food and provisions. Today, you can still walk through the town's streets and experience a true time-capsule of Roman life. You can see a valuable hoard of objects found during excavations, including Roman armour and trinkets, which provide a fascinating insight into the life of a soldier.

The museum was interesting and the walk round the old town moderately so. The attraction could do with a small room with a video on a 5 minute loop to help create atmosphere. The speaking commentary phonic things aren't very stimulating really. Given the age...More

It was great to see the famous Corbridge Lion. It’s an impressive piece of work and in great condition given its age. The ruins are also great to walk around with the information boards really helpful.

We have visited the site before but this time we went along on one of the guided walks; the volunteers giving these tours are excellent, full of enthusiasm and they really bring the place alive. Most definitely recommended. This site is a Roman Town and...More

We were hoping to see Hadrian’s Wall, so started off by visiting Corbridge as it was relatively nearby. We were not sure what to expect, but were very pleased we decided on this location. It was easy to find, easy to park at, much needed...More

The audio information was first class. It made the site come to life. I was particularly impressed with the condition of the granaries where so much of the floor was still in place.

We could only spend a short time here but we have been to a lot of the other Hadrian’s wall sites so we were well prepared. This site is different as it is the remains of a town rather than a fort, very well presented...More

Like nearby Vindoland this is a site I used to go to a lot but it is several years since my last visit. The scale of the excavations is most impressive. Guided tours are available at regular intervals during the day. The museum has information...More

We visited Corbridge at the beginning of our visit to Hadrian's wall area, staying at Haydon Bridge. A very good insight into Roman history and good museum.

This site is facinating. There are artefacts in the museum which belong to the site immediately outside and an interesting timeline showing the Roman occupation and the demise of the Roman Empire. There is a device issued to every individual which gives and interesting commentary...More

A hidden gem. Advertised in English Hertiage leaflets was how we found it. Have seen it advertised in Corbridge on our many visits. Well what a find. A really fab Museum which has just been newly refurbished holding lots of interesting artifacts from the digs....More

Hi, it can take around 2 to 3 hours. It's not a big site. It's really nice though and staff are excellent answering all your questions. I think it's worth the visit if you don't have time to go to any of the other... More
