- Melanie M4 contributionsFabulous ExperienceA wonderful morning spent with Adam & the gorgeous Cedar, Bramble & Neo. The setting was perfect & the weather didn't let us down. Loved learning about the birds of prey from Adam & had great fun interacting with the fabulous trio 😀 Wished we'd booked for the whole day so looking forward to returning to fly the rest of the clan!Thank you for the review, hopefully see you again to meet the rest of the team.Written 8 November 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 7 October 2023
- Venture556874063951 contributionBook the whole day - you won't regret it !We had a fantastic full day experience with Adam and his birds on a cold and wet day in November. The weather didn't matter - Adam made the day thoroughly enjoyable - he is so knowledgeable and was eager to share his passion with us. Each bird has it's own character and it was lovely to get to know them. The whole day was informative and fun, and being able to be hands on with the birds was really special. We're looking forward to returning when the sun is shining !Thank you for the lovely message!!! fingers crossed we can get you some sunshine next time!!Written 1 March 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 December 2023

We purchased this full-day experience for our daughter’s birthday, who is an animal lover, and it was well worth it. We all enjoyed it so much.. Adam clearly loves what he does and kindly shared the loads of knowledge he has of all his birds.. the experience was so engaging! We loved learning about all the different characteristics of these lovely feathered creatures -and being able to get up close with them. It’s a great day out!.. The woodland walk and seeing the birds in their natural environment made it very special indeed. Adam was so passionate about his birds giving us endless facts about all his menagerie, that made for a wonderful experience that exceeded our expectations. - Stuart J9 contributionsThe best Bird of Prey experience i have ever encountered……I went on the half day experience which was a Father’s Day gift from my daughters and was about to expire. Adam was able to book me in straight away so off I went yesterday with my (slightly squeamish) partner as a spectator. There were just ourselves and another couple - who we didn’t know but were great company - doing the experience. We were greeted warmly by the Owner/Falconer Adam who owns all the birds he flies. Adam soon put everyone at ease with his great sense of humour and his enthusiasm for his (hobby) job. We set off for an hours walk through the woods with Cedar, a beautiful Harris Hawk that was so well trained and willingly flew to our gloved hand when offered a tasty tidbit. All the time Adam was giving us amazing information about the birds, his life and his love and dedication to his vocation. We next met Bramble, a lovely little Short Eared Owl that loved to sit on my head as we walked through the trees. Again Adam told us so much that we just didn’t know about this stunning little bird. Finally we got to meet Neo, a male Saker Falcon and the aerial display master of our experience. He would swoop and dive between us while chasing the lure Adam was expertly swinging for him. I loved every moment of the whole experience, as did my “slightly squeamish “ partner who was in awe of the birds and loved having Bramble perch on her head. Adam is a so passionate about his birds and his knowledge is second to none, he just fills you full of information and enthusiasm, in fact when we finished, my partner said to him “you just didn’t stop talking!” because he was so entertaining with his knowledge and great sense of humour. All in all a fantastic 2 hours spent in great company and in a beautiful location. I urge everyone to treat themselves to an amazing experience with Adam and his stunning birds at East Sussex Falconry.Thank you Stuart for an amazing review!!! I am so glad you both had a great time, and thank you for being great listeners to my none stop talking! Hopefully you will visit again to meet the rest of the team.Written 12 June 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 12 May 2024
- JACQUI B2 contributionsIncredible, educational and truly enthrallingI was given a 1/2 day experience which Adam very kindly honoured as it was with a previous company. What an incredible and amazing experience. Adam was so knowledgeable and interesting giving an incredible insight to falconry. For me, to walk through the woods with Cedar (Harris Hawk) and seeing his working partnership with Adam was truly great. Also, walking through the woods with Bramble (long eared owl) and finally seeing and experiencing the speed and power of Neo the Lanner Falcon. All so very different. Absolutely exceeded my expectations and I would happily recommend this experience, and Adam, to anyone. My wife accompanied me on the experience and was also similarly enthralled. I would like to do this experience again.Thank you for the great review, i am glad the team left an impression.Written 12 June 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 May 2024
- Steve B4 contributionsThank you CedarAbsolutely fantastic day had flying with the team, Harris Hawks (Cedar & Blue), Long Eared Barn Owl (Bramble), Lanner Falcon (Neo), Barn Owl (Fig) and brother & sister Kites (Kimberley & Keanu), oh and our host Adam !. Spent the full day with the team learning all about their characters, how they hunt, their superb vision or lack of for the owls who make up with their awesome hearing. Learnt so much from Adam today it was trully an unforgetable day. Special thanks to Cedar being the first bird of prey i have had perched on my glove and feeding him.Thank you Steve, Glad you had a great day with the team!!Written 12 June 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 29 May 2024

I have never been to another falconry experience, so this experience was new and felt totally unique to me. It was an immersive one. We walked the ground of a beautiful 15th-century castle with our very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide Gerard, and one or two birds never far away. We learned so much about the art of falconry but most importantly about the birds of prey and their incredible superpowers. They are wonderful and full of character. We felt so so lucky to be part of this experience and will warmly recommend anyone to do the full-day experience.

We were given this experience by our son for Christmas and eventually went in October. The weather couldn't have been better. The whole experience was far better than we anticipated, Gerard was very fair in making sure that we all had plenty of opportunity to feed the hawks on our glove. We were given a glove each and there were six of us in the group, the whole experience lasted two hours.
It was so nice to see the birds in there natural woodland habitat as opposed to seeing them as one does in an arena on perches at county shows. To see a long eared owl take off and enjoy his time in the trees and yet come floating back to us when he sees a morsel of chicken on one of our gloves was moment I'll never forget. The same was the case for the 'ghostly' silent and beautiful barn owl which glided past my wife brushing her face with his wing. The finale was performed by a pair of 'acrobatic' yellow beaked kites above an open field with the castle as a backdrop.Simply FANTASTIC !
I thoroughly recommend this experience. Alan Sheers (Bridge, Canterbury)

This was the most amazing day. To be so up close and personal with these magnificent birds was a real privilege. Gerard keeps the groups really small which allows everyone to have plenty of contact time with the birds. Walking through the woods with a hawk or an owl flying free and coming to your glove for a titbit was thrilling! And to have Bramble, the long eared owl, landing on your shoulder and snuggling up to you was delightful - watching her swallow a mouse whole maybe less so! Gerard is extremely knowledgable about his birds and I learnt so much throughout the day. He is also a dab hand at videoing the birds landing on your glove in ‘slow-mo’, so do not forget your camera or phone.
I would throughly recommend going for the whole day, the time flew by (pun intended) and I’m already saving to go again.

My husband and I travelled from London just for this incredible full day experience as a birthday treat.
As animal enthusiasts, it was so wonderful to see how comfortable and well treated the birds were. And how passionate, engaged and knowledgeable Gerard was during the entire walk
There was a mutual rapport with each bird, and it was beautiful to see in person. Nothing felt forced or simulated and it shows these birds have an understanding and a level of respect.
The experience felt quite intimate, to be able to enjoy a walk in the forest while being able to witness their natural behaviour and engage with the birds organically. Definitely unique and easily recommended to every friend to visit if given the chance!

My wife received a voucher for two for her birthday. It was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it. It is not your usually show as it all takes place in either woods or open grassland. There were three groups of two on this day although this may change depending how busy they are. The people participating got a leather glove and the birds will land on these. We were all shown the correct way of doing thing and the rights and wrongs.
We went out with a Harris Hawk, a Long Eared Owl and two Kites. Gerard explains everything as you go and make the experience amazing. All in all a great time and we stayed Covid safe! The owl is amazing. Book now

A wonderful day becoming part of a hawk’s pack, seeing owls glide silently through woods back to you and watching falcons and kites in action. Gerard is a fantastic, knowledgeable guide through the day.
If you would like to spend a day close up to some awe-inspiring birds of prey, with the bonus backdrop of Herstmonceux Castle and grounds, then I would highly recommend this amazing experience.

What an amazing experience! To get the opportunity to do falconry in such a majestic setting as Herstmonceux Castle, Gerards passion for his birds shows in abundance, seeing the Harris flying through beautiful East Sussex woodland, The Lanner falcon at altitude, and the barn owl fly across the meadow, and the yellow billed kites flying round the castle, will truly make you feel like a lord or a lady, I highly recommend it. Looking forward to going again next year. Thankyou Gerard.

Booked for my 6 year old Grandson and it was absolutely fantastic. Himself and us 5 adults spent the most superb 2 hours walking the grounds of the castle flying these beautiful birds, and learning from Gerrard (the Falconer / guide) all about these fascinating creatures. We all held, and 'flew' them, It was a very relaxed and informative morning. I cannot rate this experience high enough. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. We will be booking this experience again. It has inspired our Grandson to follow this more and possibly get involved when he is a little older.
Gerrard shared is great love, experience and obvious passion for the birds and I cannot thank him enough for today.
Brilliant!

Thank you so much for last Sunday’s experience! You and all “the team” were fantastic in making my partner’s birthday special and memorable. I can see why people keep coming back to fly with you and the birds. I will certainly be recommending your services.
Communication in the lead up was very responsive and professional. In the lead up to the event which is weather dependent, Adam communicated the relevant information needed for the day. Settling payment weather in advance or over the day was very straightforward with emphasis on the experience itself.
Lasting two hours it never felt rushed and there was lots of opportunities to experience time with all the different birds in Adam’s team. He was very friendly and enthusiastic with lots of information and had all the answers to the questions we were asking.
I would thoroughly recommend East Sussex Falconry to all my friends and family and suggest you get booked in soon whilst the weather is good!
Well done Bramble and the team

I had a full day falconry experience today, and haven’t stopped smiling yet! Gerard’s passion, enthusiasm and experience make this informative as well as great fun. It’s not every day that you can lure a falcon or walk through the woods with an owl on your shoulder! Harris hawk, Lanner falcons, owls and kites were all flown, with lots of hands-on opportunities.
If you are looking for something special to do and like birds of prey, you cannot go wrong with East Sussex Falconry.

Hello, I have just brought the falconry full day experience as a Christmas gift for my partner and I shall be coming along too as a spectator. I was just wondering for the full day experience is lunch included? Or do you have cafe facilities?
Written 4 September 2018
There is a cafe open at certain times of the year. But we recommend a pack lunch, where we can continue the day together, we provide tea, coffee and water, look forward to seeing you both soon.

There is no waiting time you can book to visit Gerard and his birds straight away. The only delay will be if the day you have chosen is fully booked. Get booking and enjoy a great day out.

Hello,
we are planning a family trip for next week-end and would be interested to visit you. We will be 6 persons, 3adults and 3 children of 4, 4 and 6 years old. My 6 years old son is particularly interested in birds, especially falcons. But I wonder what kind of ticket I should buy for us all to plan a visit for a few hours (half day probably)? Could you help me?
Thank you, and hope to see you soon.
