Such a beautiful place to enjoy the beach view! Really worth the stop before going to Mirador Tahai to watch the sunset.

Some call it the first and last moai you will see on Easter Island

A lone moai downtown so to speak. Near the town, port and airport - hence its nickname.

Easy to spot, and makes a good picture with seascapes behind.

Ahu Riata is a must see.
Feb 2019 • Couples
A must visit is Ahu Riata. If one rents a car, a rental car is much cheaper than the VERY expensive tours and one can drive around the entire island and see ALL the Moai's.. You can drive around and see all the Moai's in one day.Guiden tours start @ US$195 per person, way over the odds.

One of the Moais close to Hanga Roa

Once settled in Hanga Roa, this place is easily accessible from the village. While visiting this Moai, you can take a look at the port as well.

Wonderful Ahu right in town.

This is the last ahu to have been restored in Hanga Roa. Located in the midst of port facilities and outrigger canoes, the site boasts a wonderful view and grassy lawn perfect for a picnic or nap.

First moai.

Arriving by ship at the harbour of Hanga Piko, this is the first moai to greet you. Although erosion did its work, the carvings of the fingers is still very visible.

Not to be missed

I flew to Easter Island from Santiago in Chile and although I traveled alone there are plenty of tourists all in the same position.
I'll never go again but it's a huge tick off the bucket list!

Surprised there aren't more reviews of this moai
Jan 2018 • Couples
We visited Easter Island as passengers on a cruise ship that was anchored off-shore for two days. The tender docked in this small cove that is also used for the loading and unloading of small boats that shuttle between freighters visiting the island and shore. This moai is the first one you'll see if you arrive by sea (and may be the first one you see if you arrive by plane as this is in the glide path depending on wind direction). The face is eroded but there is remarkable detail of arms and hands - detail not often seen elsewhere on the island and certainly not on any I recall where you can get as close as you can here. Even if you don't arrive by ship, this is certainly worth a brief visit.

Thanks for reading. If you’ve found this helpful I’ll appreciate a thumbs up below.
