From the Square in the centre of Kenmore, the walk down to the castle is stunning (in decent weather). Initially passing through the stone castle walls / gates you immediately pass the local school then a small park / sports fields. The driveway (generally closed...More

You can walk around the castle, but be advised it's a long walk around the circuit. It's at least a couple of miles, so make sure you are prepared. It's a gorgeous walk, though. There's a good chance to see some cool wildlife; there was...More

Walk through the archway and follow by the golf course all the way to Taymouth Castle. A quiet walk ... walk around the perimeter of the castle ... grey and majestic. Return via the pathway by the river ... the views absolutely amazing! Very atmospheric!

I was a member of Taymouth Castle golf club in the late 1990s/early 2000s. The course has pedigree as it was designed by James Braid. It was a great course to play and in the autumn and early spring you could have the place to...More

The Castle was closed during our visit but it is a nice 20 minutes walk from the lodges. A beautiful building from the outside and is well worth a visit.

It must take a lot to upkeep these gems and it is sad to see them need urgent repairs and sadly this Castle needs much TLC ! No indication on our visit when or if it will be open to tours ?

It's sad that the castle isn't open to visitors as the castle is beautiful but I still recommend walking from the village to the castle as the route takes you past the golf course and river.

We thoroughly enjoyed this easy 5km walk to the magnificent Taymouth Castle, saddened at the sight of such a beautiful building sitting idle and seemingly falling into disrepair. The walk was on a frosty late December afternoon with bright sunshine splayed across the golf course....More
