We took our boys, 9 and 11, to visit this castle. It was worth wearing sneakers or sturdy sandals. They enjoyed the view and climbing around, although not too strenuous. Exterior parts have little if any explanation, but the unexpected interior museum section had a...More

An excellent castle to visit. Artefacts displayed well and Castle in good state. Some works have been done to show the castle as it once was. Beautiful views from the kastro.

Not as romantic as the castle at Karytaina, maybe, but very much better preserved, and fascinating for anybody with an interest in crusader / Frankish military thinking. People interested in Greece under the Franks generally might also like to go a few miles down the...More

Chlemoutsi or Khlemoutsi castle is one of the biggest and best-preserved medieval castles in Greece. It's only 10 minutes from Kyllini port and is visible for many miles around -- which means also that you get a stunning view from the top, over miles of...More
