If you have the energy, you should definetely hike up to the top of Table Mountain. The air will smell sweeter and the views more beautiful if you do so ;)

Great and well-marked hike up to the top of Table Mountain. The entrance is about a 30 minute walk from the cable car area, though you can park much closer. The hike itself consists primarily of stones arranged in a stair-like pattern. Guides indicate that...More

Superbe hike, really exhausting on the way up but really worth the effort. Beautiful trail, astonishing views and great satisfaction when arriving on the top. Best hike for me the last couple of years. Count 1.5-2h to go up the mountain.

The Platteklip Gorge walking route is a very steep climb of almost all rock steps all the way to the top. You need to be extremely fit to do this walk. I needed to stop multiple times and there are very few places you can...More

This isn't an easy hike but well worth it, took us about 1hr45 to the top. Definitely take sun cream and lots of water. Taking the hike at a reasonably slow pace is a great excuse to keep looking back at views over Cape Town....More

Easy trail to reach the top of the Table Mountain. It takes about 2.5 hours. The trail is full of rocks but not hard. The views on top worth the climbing!

Although this is the "easiest" way to walk to the top, it is not as easy as it sounds. Take water, hat and sunscreen if the sun is out and take your time! It certainly is worth it when you get to the top. This...More

The Table Mountain is a must when you are in Cape Town. Platteklip is "the easiest and most direct route to the summit and therefore also the most popular". The easiest, OK, easy, definitely NO. Be ready for intense, steep 2 - 3 hours hike,...More

This route, probably the longest staircase in Africa, is a unique experience. Rising from the city below your heels, you ascend between cliffs that gradually close in on either side until you emerge on top of the broad plateau summit of one of the most...More

As much as I encourage exposing children to new experiences, table mountain is still a mountain and thus a dangerous place for children. Platteklip Gorge is far more strenuous than Lions Head and I would never take a small... More
