Interesting museum, run by volunteers. Go past the day centre though! Based on an aboriginal idea apparently, with a map on the floor tracing out a local author’s novel. Also has a stone with Pictish symbols. Very helpful volunteer; we were his only visitors so...More

We stopped in to look up some family history and were very impressed by the centre. It had a lovely exhibit and very kind staff. Stop if you have time.

Wild and windswept Dunbeath has a huge history and it isn't all peaches and cream! This part of Scotland saw clearances and strife against the weather elements over the past centuries. Some of this is recounted in this small tribute to the areas human past....More

Closed on Sundays. Guide books say open all week. A leaflet stuck in the window of the centre stated it was open all week. But no. A tourist attraction shut on a Sunday? I thought this kind of Scotland faded away in the 1960s. Still,...More
