What an experience! Our family had such a special time. The weather was misty and rainy and made for beautiful scenery and nostalgic imagery. Our guide for the Sani Pass tour Emile was so knowledgeable about the history of the land, people and wildlife it helped make a very special memory for us all.

What an amazing day!
Our guide, Sandile, was knowledgeable, friendly and an excellent driver!
The whole experience was a mixture of spectacular views, local interaction and African massage on the drive.
Thoroughly recommended.

Today my family and I did the Sani Pass tour with our guide Tsebo. We had a great time despite the misty cold and rainy weather. Tsebo had so much to share and was very happy to answer our many questions. He was also very skilled at spotting birds and several animals we encountered along the way. He told us that despite the rain in South Africa that the weather may be clear in Lesotho and he was right! We found a bit of sun at the top. Very informative visit to a village and then a fun lunch at the Highest Bar in Africa. We never felt the slightest concern for our safety with Tsebo’s excellent driving skills. I highly recommend for families. .

The Sani pass overnight tour was excellent, incredible scenery and really enhanced by our guide & driver Tsebo who knew all of the wildlife and seemingly most of the people! I’d definitely recommend doing the overnight rather than 1-day trip, there’s a lot of driving and we were able to take things at a good pace, stay over in a lovely guesthouse in Mohotlong and ride horses over the mountains for several hours to see some beautiful and remote villages plus stop for lunch for some excellent local food. We took the tour from Durban which included a transfer to Underberg with a friendly and knowledgable driver.

I would like to praise the guide Mondli for making us a fun, educational, and interesting trip. From the first moment we felt confident in his driving, we discovered his great knowledge in every field, the history of Lesotho, the approach to the locals, and especially in the field of bird watching which suited my husband's hobby - photographing birds.
Mondli responded to our requests and supported us during the difficult times we went through following of the events in Israel.
I would like to thank Mondli from the bottom of my heart and hope that there will be more people/guides like him.

My husband and I hired Roof of Africa to pick us up early on a Wednesday morning at the airport in Maseru and show us some highlights of Lesotho for the next two days, overnighting at Semonkong and then dropping us off at Pietermaritzburg in South Africa. Everything about the operation was professional. Sandile was at the arrivals area, waiting for us to emerge, and he proved to be a competent and responsible driver. We appreciated the many insights he shared with us. The one disappointment was that we did not travel down the Sani Pass, as I had thought we would do. I’m not sure what caused my misunderstanding about the route, although I now know that basically there are no roads connecting Semonkong with the Pass. Anyone planning to do a similar itinerary should understand that it takes three days (not two) to get from Maseru to Underberg (or Durban or whatever) via the famous pass. Other than that, we were happy with every other aspect of the trip and would recommend Roof of Africa without reservation.

Our very nice guide could tell us a lot about the nature and the culture of both South Africa and Lesotho. During the tour he always made an effort to explain and show us the animals and nature of the sani pass. He payed a lot of attention to our personal interests and adapted the tour accordingly. We arrived in Lesotho smoothly due to his safe driving and preparations for the border control. In Lesotho we visited the highest pub in Africa and a village, where we learned a lot about their culture and enjoyed the great view of the Drakensberg. Our guide was also very flexible with our dietary requirements and prepared a delicious vegetarian lunch for us.

This is my second time up the mountain with the same service provider and Roof of Africa never fails to impress.

Our Tour guide this time was Nathi and he was amazing with a wealth of knowledge of Lesotho, taking us into the surrounding village to taste the steam bread. I genuinely would have liked for the trip to extend more to the Captial, perhaps next time.

Booking with ROA was seamless, with constant communication that made the entire experience stress free.

NOW THE RIDE UP AND DOWN THE MOUNTAIN: If you have this on your bucket list, then please do not hesitate, the sheer experience laying eyes on the magnitude of our landscape is breathtaking. The ride offers, small burst of adrenaline that will make you squeak in delight. When you get to the TOP, you understand that South Africa is truly majestic country.

Thank you, Roof of Africa, for yet another well worth the 3 hours' drive it took us to get there.

Thank you for your incredible and detailed review! We're so glad that we could take you and your friends once again. I loved reading your enthusiasm of the thrill of travelling up the pass! Please note that we cannot take you to Maseru the capital in one day, we would need to go on a 3 day overland trip to include Maseru, which we'd love to take you on :)

It's a lifetime experience! Me and my husband had such a great time with Roof Of Africa :) All their staff is super kind and helpful and our guide, Mondli, is absolutely amazing. Well organized, exciting, and perfect for nature lovers. We loved everything about this tour; birdwatching (our best birding tour in Africa!), horse riding, cultural villages... We can't wait to meet our Roof Of Africa friends again 💜Thank you so much guys!
