The reserve is beautiful and the river proximity is marvelous. The signage leaves too much to be desired, no indication of the distance to whatever you're hiking to. Not worth adding to the itinerary.

We had a lovely time walking in the hills, the kids could play freely by the river, rocks and later we returned to the day picnic area for a picnic. Lovely and worth the drive!

with no electricity and limited ablutions, it is still a wonderful place to unwind and get back to basics and nature, love going there and never a problem with hot water. also close to town and Sani pass. Love it.

The reserve is a stunning place, with great opportuunities for shorter or longer hikes. Between mountains and incredible clear rivers, it is a paaradise for naturalists as well as for keen photographers. But two points are the reason for my rating: - Trails are not realy good signposted; the map provided at the entrance gate leads more to confusion as to information - Trails are extremly bad maintained. In all the years I trveled in the National Parks and Nature Reserves of South Africa I never saw such a bad work. The gras was sometimes up to my knees, sometimes it was not even possible to check out were the trail runs. In winter that might be more a challange than a real problem. But I visited the reserve on a warm summer day. And I was warned because Puffadder as well as Nightadder are frequent inhabitants of the area. And at least the first mentioned species will not hide away when a single hiker approaches ! Park management - please do your job. As it is done in all other reserve I visited.…
