About
The Clara Maria Cheese Farm and Clog Factory is set in the pastoral polder landscape just southwest of Amsterdam. This historic 160-year old farm creates an inviting atmosphere for visitors to step back into old-world charm. The original barn has been charmingly transformed into the wooden shoe factory and the cheese making room, with a spacious, nostalgic gift shop that has a large variety of Dutch souvenirs. Visitors are welcome to drop in for a tour and to taste a variety of our delicious, freshly made cheese.

Our family had the pleasure of spending a few hours at Clara Maria last weekend. We had an absolutely AMAZING time! Not only did we get to learn all about clogs, make and taste cheese, and enjoy coffee and yummy dutch apple pie, but we also got to know the farmer, Kees-Jan, and his wife, Katrina. They are incredibly warm and welcoming! This is not a commercial type place, this is a working family farm. Kees-Jan took our kids out to the hay barn to climb through the tunnels, let the kids pet and feet baby cows, and spent a lot of time telling us about how things work on the farm. The entire staff treated us like family and welcomed us with open arms. We stocked up on yummy cheese, several Holland souvenirs, and left with smiles on all our faces. It was absolutely the highlight of our weekend in the Netherlands. We will absolutely be back!

As i grew up on a ranch in west Texas i am very familiar with cows, calves, and chickens. we had arranged a small tour but were combined with a tour of 53 so it was really crowded and pretty warm. the clog making used one of the tourists which made for a good show. the line to taste cheese was very long and the check out line even longer. with four tour buses and mother's picking up from a children's party we were blocked in for quite awhile. Some organization of groups, cars, buses is in order.

We booked for 2 people our guests and we just stood by to wait. They asked if they should set a coffee n Apple tart which we said is ok. What we didnt know is they charged us 15euro for that! We dont mind paying for the guests but u should have said it was 15euro for a lousy muddy coffee n Apple tart. Said we also ate the sample cheeses. But we have brought so many guest without the tour and the sample cheess were offered anyway. So so disappointed. Last time I'm bringing guests to u guys. What u guys did was just wrong.

Without more information, I'm at a bit of a loss. What day were you here and do you remember who helped you? The most recent possibility that I see was on 3.1.2020. We received a reservation request for a "Cheese Experience" for 4 guests, which costs €15 per person, which is clearly stated on our website. It includes a cheese and clog demo, actual cheese making with our team, coffee/tea and apple tart. If this was not the reservation that you had made, than it would have been helpful if you had communicated to the person helping you that you had simply brought guests to visit the farm and would like a tour, which is free of charge, including cheese tasting. In fact, as you mentioned, one does not need to take a tour at all, but can visit our farm and taste cheese in order to know what flavors to buy. (It should be mentioned that our cheese tasting is just that, cheese tasting, not lunch or a light afternoon snack.) Once in a while a reserved group is a "no show". That may have occurred, whereby our staff member thought that your group of four was the "Cheese Experience" group. While I sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding, I am taken aback by the tone in which you write, which is unnecessarily insulting. If there was a problem, we would have appreciated it being brought to our attention right away. My husband and I have been on the farm every day right through the holidays, so we could have been addressed immediately and resolved the problem without any ugliness. It was also possible to call us later that day or, since you are local, to come back and ask to speak to us. We are relatively easy-going people who are responsive when something goes wrong with our guests. Your response in this manner over TripAdvisor is unfortunate because it comes across to me as a rant, rather than a constructive effort to have a mistake corrected. If you would like, you are more than welcome to make an appointment with me to discuss the matter civilly. When calling, ask for the Farmer's Wife, I'll be happy to talk with you.

A very interesting place to visit, I had never seen cheese made or clogs for that matter so it was all very educational. The people who ran the farm business were passionate and professional and have done themselves proud. Would like to have met my fellow American but she was on a well earned family visit in the States. I enjoyed my visit and hope to go again one day. PS, the cheese is great too.

Very friendly family run farm, highly recommend a visit to see how clogs and cheese are made. The tour was really interesting even for my teenagers! The cheese tasting was the best bit, absolutely amazing. After the tour we was allowed to meet the cows and chickens. A really great experience.

We visited this as part of a trip with Shearings. The clog and cheese demonstration very informative and fun. Of course it's all about selling cheese and clogs and we bought some strong cheese. Being fans of strong cheese this was a disappointment sadly. Tasted like a stronger version of edam. It was also very dry.

Dissatisfied with the afternoon. I paid to learn about cheese not how you met, had children, grandchildren. This has nothing to do with cheese…. And the clog making was dull, it wasn’t clog making it was clog copying. All in all they just want to get you into the overpriced gift/cheese shop. I wouldn’t waste your time.

This is a family owned and operated business and they make you feel like family when you’re there. We loved watching how clogs are made and the guy who did this was very entertaining! The cheese tour was interesting and ended with a cheese tasting. It’s all free and we were more than happy to buy buy several kinds of cheese (they wrap it up so it can be brought back into the US) and other souvenirs from their shop. Highly recommend!

Had a very warming welcome by our guide Williem and wasn't expecting a one to one tour, then made my own clog with such excellent guidance. Then the Gouda Cheese which we tasted was gorgeous, but our favourites were the Italian Herbs and Heineken. Clara Maria looks nothing on the outside, as hence being a family-runned business, but the experience which we've had was very enjoyable.

We went to this farm after finding a mini card advertisement in our hotel. It was a rainy and windy day and this farm went way above our expectations!! We were greeted by a lovely girl (who spoke excellent English) who gave us cheese samples and started a movie for us on cheese making. Afterwards, we got to watch the actual cheese process with the 4th generation owner (who also spoke perfect English and was beyond great!). You can also watch them make the traditional wooden shoes (although we passed on this because we had already seen it). Then we went out to see their cows and the kids had a great time feeding and petting them! The store was great, well organized and well priced, but the true gem here was the friendliness of everyone we encountered! Definitely recommend going for a very fun morning!!!
