I love studio GHIBLI movies, especially " Laputa" (Castle in the sky). Takeda castle ruins are called the places which are really located in the sky. You need to climb hills to get the top from a parking lot. It's very hard...but the view from...More

Awesome hilltop sight right above the train station There are buses that take you up to a parking lot for 260-yen or pay 500-yen for a roundtrip ticket, good for an all day bus ride in the area. From the parking lot there is a...More

There's a free park off of 277, about 20 min drive from the base of the mountain that you can easily drive and take a great picture. I'd suggest bringing a 200-300mm zoom for a very unique picture but one that many people take from...More

Ive been to many corners in Japan but this might be my favorite- the surrounding area, the ruins and the trees around them, the few tourists around and the view- all beyond words. Highly recommended.
