From below it looks like a really beautiful castle but up it's just an open ruin. Nevertheless the view over the entire area is spectacular! Aljezur is a beautiful town with some really good restaurants (Varzea, Pont a Pé).

From its original name, Al Jazeera, the island, this old castle offers a great view and a glimpse to old occupation of the area. Needs some maintenance, but still is worth the visit!

Great 360degree views. You’re able to clamber around as much as you want and there are lots of information panels telling the history and myths surrounding this castle.
