We didn’t know you have to fill out a reservation form before hand until I saw a post about it online 10 minutes before we got there, discouraged we still decided to try and go anyway since we already rode all the buses out there. The gate guard guy greeted us and was very friendly and asked us to write our names down and made a phone call to the front where another man walked out and let us into the museum. We were the only 2 Americans and although we made no reservations an English speaking tour guide was there and talked us through all the cars. It was super cool and everyone was so nice, they even gave rides in one of the old fair lady Z’s. we must have gotten lucky and gone on a day when the tour wasn’t that full so they let us in. 10/10 experience, my husband really enjoyed it

We signed up for the tour not knowing if we'll even be accepted since the registration is in Japanese and we are from America. To our surprise, our registration went thru and we were able to visit the place. Note that they only have specific days open.
The "tour" is divided into 3 parts: 15-minute video about the Nissan and the Zama plant (Japanese with English subtitles), guided tour of the main collection (Japanese only), and then 45 minutes of free time.
When we got to the gate, a van transported us to the main hall where a Nissan staff who spoke fluent English was waiting for us. I truly believe that they went above and beyond to accommodate us foreigners. The guided tour was informative (we understand a little Japanese), but the free time was the best part since you can pretty much do whatever that is allowed.
We did the tour on May 24 and I was disappointed that all the production Nissan GT-R models were not in the collection. BUT the lady informed us that they were in Nissan's global HQ in Yokohama. She gave us all we needed to get there, including which exit of the station to take (some Japanese train stations are literally like a maze). She was truly very helpful.
Overall, this tour is highly recommended for people who love Nissan and cars in general. It is about an hour from Tokyo (train to Minami-Rinkan station then a short bus ride to Hibarigaoka). It is very cool to see each car Nissan has produced since the beginning, and equally awesome to see all the legendary and historic race cars they used. Very, very awesome experience.

If you love Nissan cars, this is the place to go. Over 300 cars to see in the garage. An application has to be filed ahead of time to get in, at least 3 days in advance I was told. The application is only in Japanese. I tried to figure it out, but was not successful. Once I got to Tokyo, I went to the Nissan Global headquarters in Yokohama, and had them make a reservation for me. There is a limited number allowed in each day, but we must have been there during off season as it was a small group. Not a lot of English spoken, but they were very friendly. They start with a video, that had english sub- titles. The tour is in Japanese only, but there is 45 minutes free time to look at the cars after the tour. Took the train from Yokohama to Yamoto, and then Minami-Rinken. From there we took a cab, which was about $9 out and $13 back.

Firstly, you do need to book in advance. We asked our guide to call on our behalf and book. We did this the first day we arrived in Tokyo to make sure we could get in. As it was we couldn't get a booking till the 10th day of our 12 day visit. Please note this may have been as we had 4 people in our group.
Getting here was pretty easy as after 10 days in and around Tokyo we were used to the metro and trains. From Shinjuku we caught the Odakyu Line - this is a private owned rail service - we used our Pasmo cards for the tickets. Our destination was Minanmi-Rinkan Station - we only had one change of trains to get here at Chuo-Rinkan Station on to the Odakyu-Enoshima line. From here you can catch a bus or a taxi, but we walked - its about 2.5 km each way, so an easy walk - great to check out a very industrial/suburban area.
On arrival we checked in at the gate and were shown to a bus which then took us through a myriad of large tin sheds that make up the Zama Nissan Factory. Once at the heritage centre we joined a group in watching a subtitled video before being escorted by a Japanese speaking guides. The great thing was that post tour, we discovered that our guides spoke great English and were happy to answer questions.
As a Nissan owner and collector, this museum was a highlight of our 12 days in Japan - that range is outstanding - especially the early performance cars which are almost impossible to source these days and are certainly out of our budget.
If you are any kind of Motorsport enthusiast, this is the spot for you.

Great tour of the museum with over 300 Nissan cars on display from their oldest production model to the newest, including their race car models. It's free to get in, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. You will have lots of free time to pose and take pictures with the cars.

Second time to Zama, just as amazing and awesome! Make sure you reserve online or you will be turned away, it’s in Japanese so have someone who speaks the language do it for you and you won’t be disappointed! As a GTR owner o can’t tell you how awesome it is to see pristine examples of all Datsun and Nissan cars. They don’t speak a lot of English but that’s fine you don’t need any translation and the cars speak for themselves. Trust me go, it’s awesome!

I made several mistakes on the train network from Asakusa station to Odakyu-Sagamihara Station during the peak hour morning rush. Was already giving up and heading back to Tokyo halfway but after a brief discussion with my wife, I decided to made my way back to Zama 2.5 hours later hoping that I could fit into the afternoon session. Thankfully it was a quiet day, the helpful front office staff made a phone call and minutes later I've been welcome to wait at the waiting room for the afternoon session.
Hopped onto the shuttle bus from site entrance to museum entrance (2 mins trip), welcoming staffs was waiting at the museum entrance and 15 mins later english speaking staff who did the opening introduction also gave visitors the option to have a 25mins english guided tour ( I have chosen to opt out from the english tour and have extra time for photos). Impressive collection of Nissan cars, I had almost 80 mins of photo time and I think that is just right. Special event of the day including the engine starting of a S30 fairlady Z. Extremely impressed with Nissan's hospitality considering the whole experience is completely free. Nissan, you have my highest respect.
* Feedback for Nissan: It would be great if there is a merchandise shop that have "huge amount" of Nismo and Nissan merchandise like posters, keyrings, shirts, caps, books....etc that is available for purchase. The current merchandise that is available at the museum entrance is very limited and not enough. Also please send Australia some Kei cars like the commonly spotted NV100, love the boxed shape. I would buy one anytime to do the grocery shopping.

When I try to reserve on the nissan heritage site (the red button on this site: nissan,co,jp/HERITAGE/TOUR), the calendar that shows up is not interactive for me.
Apparently when you click on a date of your choice further reservation instructions should show but nothing happens for me. I have tried this on various devices.
Could someone let me know if this reservation site works for them? I am currently not in japan so the only explanation I can think of is that it is blocked from foreign IPs or broken.
