Beautiful walks around the pinewoods. Everyone we passed said hello and made polite conversation. I took 3 young children to spot red squirrels. Within minutes we spotted 3! They seemed to be checking us out. The weather was idyllic. Pure natural beauty. The children were...More

Luckily we was able to actually see some!!! It was a great walk, longer than expected. Go when you expect it to be quieter so you will get more sights of the squirrels x

A well looked after National Trust reserve where the red squirrels still thrive. Clean comfortable toilets and adequate parking even on a very busy day like ours here. The only thing that we found a bit confusing was that Formby was not the closest train...More

A lovely place for quiet walks amongst the Pinewoods, with the occasional Red Squirrel for company. The National Trust keep the place clean and tidy. There are Toilets and Refreshment stalls open on busy days.

If you can go early the squirrels are fed by the staff to keep them in the area. They were very active when we were there, we saw about 10. Also go early to get a parking place as it is popular, lots of walks...More

HI Julie Car parking is around a fiver (can't remember exactly) it's free if your a national trust card holder though. There is ticket attendant as you drive down the lane so no need for exact money.
