Set in picturesque, lovely countryside, set just behind the village's sleepy main street, despite being a ruin this castle is still a joy to visit. Just enough of the building is still standing to provide an atmosphere and an echo of its glory days. And...More

Hidden away behind the village houses Grosmont Castle is a peaceful place to spend some time. Not large but still quite imposing the deep moat and high walls make up for its small size. The grounds around are extensive and well kept , good place...More

If you’ve already visited White Castle and skenfrith castle then this one will complete your set ... it’s smaller than the other two but well worth a visit , even if it’s appalling signposted from the village ( the signs just opposite the pub and...More

A lovely castle with nooks and crannies to explore, and steps to climb onto a section of the wall. Brilliant! Owned by Cadw, it's free to enter and worth making the effort to find it. We parked on the road, other parking is limited. Be...More

Very limited car parking in Grosmont itself. It is one of the THREE CASTLES: Grosmont; Skenfrith...More

Grosmont was once a medieval settlement. The Castle is overlooked by what can only be described as a monstrous overdeveloped house which resembles 'Fawlty Towers' As you drive down into the main street it becomes so narrow it is almost impassable in places! A village...More

Grosmont is one of three castles that are quite close together and can be done on a walk. We chose to use the car. Parking is a little tricky as the village is not very big. This is an interesting castle to explore. You can...More

Last of the three castle for us. Nice one as it’s the only one you can climb. The village itself is the biggest of the 3 and local people were really nice.

A decent ruined castle behind a row of houses in this quaint village. The Castle has decent curtain walls, with a climb up to the top giving great views over the village and surrounding countryside. The Castle is moated and the moat is still pretty...More
