The weekend market has a nicely curated mix of farm and speciality merchandise. Great place to grab breakfast from the market stalls. It does get crowded, so expect to park outside the village and walk a short distance to the market.

Nestled about an hour’s drive north of Auckland Central, Matakana has a lively and interesting atmosphere. The Farmers market was very busy and there are unique shops to visit in the village.

Very tidy village. Super cute stores. Visited the Deli and even though it was close to closing time, we were allowed in. Walking around was do lovely and all the plants and gardens were perfectly kept. Such a lovely day out.

We came here on a Saturday as part of a Tour Shop Market and Vineyard tour. Great markets and very colourful. We loved feeding the eels.

You could easily drive through Matakana and miss this treat of a shopping area which has an excellent book shop, art gallery, chocolate shop, clothes and gift shops. Sophisticated NZ offerings along with a great deli, pharmacy and cinema on the main street.

Visited on a Weekend when the Market was in full swing. Strolled around the small but modern shopping area adjacent to the Market area and had coffee in the Cafe right alongside.Altogether a most pleasant day and would thoroughly recommend.
