We made our entry to Yellowstone National Park via South Entrance of Yellowstone. Non-stop we headed north and when we approached the Grant Village we got the glimpse of the majestic Yellowstone Lake on our right. It's a massive lake (350 sq. km span &...More

What a beautiful lake. Drove around from Old Faithful and spent about an hour there sitting on it's shoreline. It's just so huge. Quiet and serene with just the water lapping up on the rocks and the blue, crystal clear water below. Just gorgeous and...More

Driving next to if for miles and miles, we stopped several times and were lucky to do so at sundown. It was truly such a peaceful experience. I wish we had been there to stop off and have a picnic. Next time for sure!!!

Driving around the lake is a very beautiful drive. Many places to pull off for a picnic, a hike, or even just enjoy the view.

We never tired of watching this lake. And it was a magnet for wildlife. We often saw Elk there. Also has a geyser at the edge going off while Elk drink from the lake just 20 feet away. Lovely!

There is lots of scenic driving and hiking around the lake as well as the opportunity for boat tours and kayaking. It's too cold to swim but the scenery is gorgeous.

As others have said, it may be difficult to get there, but if you can (and tough it out), I suspect it would be really beautiful. No waterfalls, I imagine.
