Watch the salmon climb the ladders. Enjoy the statuary, the foliage, the fresh air. Learn! Well worth the drive from the City.

I never knew about this and how it worked. It was great to see the ships and boats come through. When we went, there was a lot of ship traffic. On the other side is a walk through museum and gift shop. Worth the visit.

A visit to see the 1917 locks (original date) and fish ladder was fun and interesting. The locks are busy and one can frequently see ships transiting.

Check out the locks and the salmon (behind the glass; didn’t see them jumping the ladder). Our kids liked seeing how they move the boats through with the water levels changing and all. The surrounding park is pretty but not a destination. There’s a clean...More

The locks are always a great place to visit because there is so much to see. Watching the small boats and large ships enter and leave the locks is always interesting, but there is also a museum to visit and the fish to see on...More

This was one of our stops on a tour of Seattle. Nice, well-maintained area, interesting to watch the boats travel through. Only saw a few salmon, unfortunately. We were told that normally 12,000 salmon go through the fish ladder/day, but this year only 17,000 total...More

I've been visiting the Locks off and on since I was a child. I can spend hours just watching the boats go in and out, the mechanism of the whole thing...it's very impressive.

If in Seattle you should check this place out when the salmon are running in big numbers in late June / early July. There are big glass windows where you can watch the fish as they run in from the ocean into the lakes.

Traveled by Argosy Cruise Ship. The narrator onboard was amazing. So much information as we traveled north up the Sound and east to the locks. An amazing experience. Salmon were jumping. Loved the experience!

What's the question? Jeff C."s response to Pamela M was rather snotty. Whatever the question or comments made by Pamela M., Jeff C. owed her more respect than his comment suggested. Jeff...you don't know everything about... More
