Unfortunately on the day we went there was no sunset and cloudy skies for stars. May not be worth the expense and time for the trip.

Justin was our guide. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He put everyone at ease to ask any questions. We loved this tour and hope to book it again when the access road to the summit is reopened.

It is difficult to describe the astronomy experience...The sky is clear & dark from the Summit, so the stars are much more visible & clear--like crystals in the sky. With the high-powered telescope, we also so the craters on the moon. Be sure to bring...More

We booked this tour to later be told that the summit was inaccessible due to (illegal) blockage of the road by (native?) Hawaiians who consider this an invasion of a sacred place. We actually chose the date based on the moon phase to get the...More

Although it’s not possible to go to the summit of Mauna Kea at present our guides did a brilliant job of giving us a similar experience. The nature walk to sunset was so lovely and the sunset was other worldly! The stargazing was as you...More

I originally booked the sunrise tour at the summit but was contacted a week before because the access road was closed. They offered an alternative which was the sunset and star gazing tour. I didnt realize a protest was going on, and figured the road...More

Excellent trip to see the waterfalls! we hike about one mile in the plushy Waipio Valley, beautiful view of the coast and a great lunch. The tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the day!

I did the Kilauea summit sunset and star watching tour from Kailua. A circle tour of the island with them would not be a bad idea. Finding some of the turnoffs to important sights is a bit difficult--not the best signage.
