This is a small outdoor market (it might take you ten minutes to walk through it) full of African clothes, jewelry and other items. A very interesting place and not too expensive.

Off the beaten path on 116th Street, this is an open air market that offers lots of African clothing, cloth, decor, souvenirs of NYC. If you’re in this area, try not to miss it.

I was dropped off on the hop on/hop off tour and remained there for most of the afternoon. Jewelry is super inexpensive and tons to choose from. Clothing is beautiful and I loved that you can haggle a bit on the pricing. Will definitely be...More

This is a small African market with a variety of items. There are restrooms here that are ok but not sparkling clean. The items here are of fair to good quality. If in the area worth a stop but would not make a special trip...More

When in NYC visit THE AFRICAN MARKET on W. 116th St. in Harlem. Beautiful African sculptures and clothes at a responsible price.

Visited recently. Although the clothing was not my speed, there were interesting arts and crafts for sale. The vendors were very pleasant as well

You could skip this, prefer doing my shopping at Chinatown instead. But if you around the area, do come and drop by. Maybe you find something you need.

I visited this marketplace in a hot morning of June, at 10,30 a.m. only few shops were open. It's a nice little African marketplace up in Harlem. The products they sell look hand crafted and seems to be of West African origin. I like Africa...More

We were disappointed by this market, it is quite small and has a very limited range of things for sale. There were some authentic-looking west African masks for sale, some fake 'designer' handbags and the rest was basically African jewellery and dresses. There was no...More

I'm so glad I went. I love Malcolm X and what he represented, so I am ecstatic to see they preserved this place beautifully. To look at the spot where this beautiful buffalo soldier fell, it's heartbreaking. But we should remember. We can never forget,...More

As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has
played a vital role in the history of New York City.
Today, the neighbourhood is as vibrant as ever as new
businesses and developments go up next to local
institutions. The heart of the neighbourhood is
bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and
historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with
big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and
