A fair bit to look at in the area with the seaway, park and the ships. I visited on a beautiful day and it waa quiet early in the morning. i went for a walk to the end of the seaway. A number of fisherman,...More
Right in front of Ghirardelli Square overlooking the bay. There are historic working boats docked at the Hyde Street pier where you can view them , they go back to 1886.
For $10, you get aboard the Balclutha, the Eureka, and the Hercules.
The ships were grand, the waterfront a world-class beauty, but what I remember best about the visit were the finely detailed black-and-white photographs, displayed inside the Maritime Museum, of old seafaring San Francisco. Take time to study them closely. The clothing, the facial expressions, the...More
I was on a business trip and only had an afternoon to explore the bay. Decided to walk from Fort Mason to Pier 39 and take in the sights and sounds. Walking along the water and onto the piers was very nice. Didn't have to...More

There is Free parking in the wharf area. It goes really quickly though. I was able to park at Boudin Bakery and Cafe. We ate lunch and walked the rest of the Wharf to the museum and looked at the boats. If it is full, you can park downtown and take the trolley. Thats what we did the day before we toured the ships. We parked for $12 all day close to the Mall area and caught the Cable Car to the wharf.
First, you can park along the street but the problem is it is 2 hours at a time so you have to feed the meter at 2 hours. It might be better to park in a lot. This place is cheap and not along walk to pier. Imperial... More
