“Small Group Sedona Photography Workshop with Lunch or Dinner”
26 Sep 2018
“Very knowledgeable photographer, way too opionated politically, didn't know when to shut-up.”
How to take more beautiful, more interesting, more creative, and more original photographs than ever before – in hours! Journey In Common is the best of a class, and the best of a tour. We conduct one-day photo workshops to Sedona which is rich in...more
I orignally planned for a half day with David, not wanting to leave my non-photographer wife at the hotel. He modified the experience to make it fun for both of us and we did a 2 person full day workshop. Aside from having a long...More
My wife gave me the Journey in Common Workshop for my birthday and it was one of the best gifts I have ever received.
David is a great instructor and more importantly he cares that you leave with great pictures that you can proudly display...More
We enjoyed this photography tour. David Westfall took time in advance to learn more about our photography expertise and was prepared during the tour to help at our two different levels. The locations we went were beautiful and we had enough time to take the...More
I had a great day getting familiar with several beautiful areas throughout the Sedona (and also reacquainted with my camera). David was very knowledgeable about photography. I am heading home with some great photos!
David was awesome! Very knowledgeable and personable. We appreciated his ability to be able to break down concepts for simplier explanations. We also were super excited that he shared some tips and tricks on how to achieve more consistent sharp focus for our photos. The...More
This was the best of about 6 photo tours I’ve taken over the last several years. We were two. Dave took us to three sites around Sedona Arizona: one featuring high dramatic cliffs; the second rushing water; the third Sedona's most beautiful mountains. I learned...More
David is a very experienced photographer and a fairly good guide. We went to places that we wouldn't have found on our own. The early morning started off going up to Oak Creek Canyon, spectacular sights!
During the trip up David started to make negative...More

I am saddened that you were not able to enjoy this workshop to the fullest possible. I do not remember any conversations with you of the type you are describing; but if I said anything that may have been off-subject to photography or happened to...More
We are a family of five, with the three kids range in age from 11 to 16. Our photography skills are varied on both level of interest and abilities. Our guide (and owner) David Westfall is a professional photographer by training, but was very patient...More
Like many advanced amateur photographers, I went to Sedona to capture some of the natural beauty in the area, but I needed help in going to some unique locations at the right time to capture some of the beauty. The Journey in Common 1 day...More
David has used his personal experience of participating in photography tours to make his workshops relevant to his participants and personal. This is not a stop & take pictures tour. You meet early to make use of the morning light- but it's worth it. I...More

Good morning, DebraJan2014,
Thank you for forwarding me your questions. I will answer them the best I can below. I would recommend, however, that you consider calling or emailing me directly, so I can best understand your needs and how we can meet them in a fashion your group would most enjoy.
HOW IS THE TOUR TRANSPORTED TO DIFFERENT PHOTOGRAPHIC LOCATIONS? There are two options regarding where we pick up our tour clients. One is in Phoenix, close to the I-17 and 101 Loop interchange. The other is in Sedona. There is a small extra fee for the transportation beginning in Phoenix. All transportation is provided by us in a vehicle which can comfortably accommodate the entire number of people booking the tour.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM FOR A TOUR?
The minimum number of clients taken in an individual tour is 2, and the maximum is usually 6. In some unusual cases we have taken larger groups; but only rarely because our emphasis is on providing each participant with plenty of attention and assistance.
WE POTENTIALLY MAY WANT TO LIMIT THE TOUR TO OUR GROUP. IS THAT POSSIBLE? That depends on the size of your group. Calling or emailing us so we can discuss your needs would be very advantageous here. But we are committed to do all we can to fulfill your needs!
WHAT TYPE OF CAMERA EQUIPMENT IS RECOMMENDED? Digital SLR cameras really are best for capturing the best pictures possible. If members of your group are interested, we have a couple of cameras which we can loan out for a very reasonable fee for those who do not own a digital SLR but would like to use one on this tour. Point-and-Shoot cameras (which would include quality cameras on cell phones) are also workable, but the resulting image quality would be significantly less and some images would not be able to be captured at all. But we will work with those bringing these cameras the best we can!
Our listing on TripAdvisor includes a link to our website, which TripAdvisor does not allow me to put in this answer, and which may also be worth looking at. Below I am including my personal cell phone number, so please feel free to reach out by call or text and let’s see how we can best help your goals for your group! We have some flexibility on dates if you don’t see the date you want available. Again, let’s talk and see what we can do for you and your group.
The most significant things which set our photography tours apart from other tours is that we really focus on helping each person on the tour successfully capture great images, and go home knowing more about photography than they did when the tour started. We take the time to help people with their camera controls, composition, and understanding how to bring some more life into a photograph. We want each person to bring home an image they would be proud to enlarge and put on their wall at home.
Another major emphasis for our tours is to bring our clients to locations which they may have missed, but are rich in truly great photographic opportunities. We spend a lot of time scouting out these locations.
Thank you for the opportunity to answer your questions, and to be of service! That is what we do!
