The fort was blown up so there is very little left to see, and this can be achieved in about twenty seconds. Time well spent though.

This is the last remaining segment of the fort built by the Portuguese. The rest of it was destroyed by the Dutch. It is well looked after.

This one small stone gatehouse, which I think is properly called the Porta De Santiago, is the only remains of the Portuguese fort in Melaka. With nearby St Paul’s Hill (there are steps from the gatehouse leading up to it) and Bastion Middleburg this structure...More

As you'll learn from the great signage around the town, the A Famosa fort was actually quite large in its heyday. But it was destroyed by the British in 1807. Still, there are some restored portions that are great for getting a bit of a...More

A Famosa is located right in the centre of Melaka and walking distance from Jonker Street. The fort is pretty small from what I expected. It can get pretty hot in Malacca so wear something comfortable and put on sunblock! Since this place is a...More

It's just a small fort but it is very significant as this is one of the remaining building or fort during Portuguese Era about 500years ago. A good place to take photos as the proof that you've been to Malacca.
