This is the last stop on tour before heading back to cruise ship. (Ship is in view from this shop.) The best was saved for last. Absolutely superb artistic work is shown on the various pieces for purchase. You can watch the craft person at...More
I have been going to The Sand Castle Cameo Factory for many years. Franco, the Master Carver, learned the art in his home country of Italy. He came to Roatan and taught locals how to carve. All of the jewelry and items are made at...More
The creations at the Cameo Factory are breathtaking. We learned how cameos are created and watched as a young girl carefully carved right in front of us. Pieces large and small are amazing and for sale.
Our group thoroughly enjoyed visiting the cameo institute! There was a demo in progress, which was pretty special. The staff was extremely helpful, and several of us acquired treasures. Highly recommend this short but lovely stop.
Cameos were neat to see and admired for their artistry. There were lots of cameo merchandise for sale. You can also see the skillful carver executing their craft. The staff will answer any questions you may have. This is supposedly the only cameo factory in...More

This is a don’t miss stop. Just about a 20 minute walk from the Royal Caribbean dock you will not be disappointed. Prices are excellent. Watching the carvers and talking to the artists make this a once and a lifetime chance to experience this art...More

Yes, but just about every taxi driver will want to take you on a tour... and we have had to agree to a price to take us just to the Cameo Factory. We have been there many times and really do not want to do the other stops.

I remember steps going out of the retail shop side of the building. Not sure on the entrance/info hall side. If no steps there, you could easily reverse course and exit that way. At worst, it's 2 or 3 steps. If going with family or on a guided tour, I'd hope it would be possible to be assisted up and down a couple of steps. There may be no steps out the back door to the restrooms, and there might be a path from there to the front parking area (this property is the size of a city residential lot, with the building around the size of an average home, maybe 2,000 feet on main floor). The building appeared to be on level ground, and with multiple workers who seemed friendly and would likely assist if needed.
