The arduous climb up to monastery was a treat in itself and the view above was just unbelievably beautiful. Being able to set foot on the same place where Jesus fasted and was tempted by the devil was just another level.

We  viewed the monastery across the valley for a small Bedouin village. Our Franciscan tour leader explained the temptation of Christ that happened here  and read the scriptures. Viewing the mountain from a distance gave a greater impact to the story. A pleasant side benefit were camels...More

Set on the edge of a cliff, we were told only two monks live in the monastery currently. Take the tram up, we were unable to go up to the monastery when we were there but viewing from the bottom is pretty cool.

A really unusual place wedged in the cliff face with great views. However, I was disappointed not being allowed to take pictures in the small but attractive church section, and the priest was making sure we didn't. I can never understand a photo ban in...More

I caught a cable car ride up to Mount Temptation Monastery. As I begin my entrance inside, many many people are there and there is no quietness or quiet ambience about the place but rather many people vying for the best view or trying to...More

Kathy nailed it...the walk is reasonably steep but manageable. You can stop along the way as the view is breathtaking (pardon the pun...).
