Ajanta and Ellora caves - the signature sites of Aurangabad - UNESCO world heritage sites. While Ajanta can be well managed without a guide, this one is bit tricky without one. Better to figure which caves to visit beforehand, as caves are far apart and...More

Being an architect I was excited to see the caves. People sitting on shivling and clicking pictures can be shocking. Caves requires true maintenance. I found some piers which looked modern and misfit. A person makes good sketches and another writes on rice were worth...More

We visited in September when the atmosphere was cloudy and pleasant. The caves and temple complex was serene. The gardens were fresh and manicured. The surroundings were decently clean. Btw, the pungent smell in some caves mentioned in some earlier posts is that of bats....More

Great visit of the caves however it must be something different, all the caves must be definitely cleaned from urine smell in all and it must be strictly forbidden to do so again !!!

If you have seen Ajanta caves then you won't find much difference. It is not as well preserved as Ajanta. But Kailash temple is worth the time and qualifies for a guided tour.

Kailash temple is one of the best places you can see if interested in architecture. The only example of cut out rock structure in the world. Class!

I've been coming here since my adolescence (at more than decade-long intervals), and I continue to be mind-blown. The care and upkeep have definitely improved. Transport aids the debilitated and lazy. And the rock carvings themselves remain astonishing. Hidden gems of Indian archeology/history.

You can make it. But it will be wise to ask the tour guide or taxi operator and he will be able to advise better. This is due to local route and timing. You can make it. Jai Sairam
