Located inside a church, early Christian mosaics on the ground, excavated and well preserved, not too big though. Tickets required.

The mosaic map at St. Georges is a truly wonderful relic of Byzantine times. Constructed in the sixth century it was a valuable aid to the ancients understanding of the world. Well worth a look, better still if you have a guide.

This Greek Orthodox Church is famed for its mosaic map, which represents the oldest map of Palestine in existence and provides historical insights into the region. Entrance fee: 1 JOD. For more pictures, visit my Instagram (kelledstyle) ;-)

Given that there were no sextants, scarcely accurate compasses, no GPS, the map that was created was indeed a masterpiece. Pity so much of it was lost but what remains gives a person an excellent idea of what the whole must have looked like.

The Mosaik is beautiful and very well preserved. The entry is included in the Jordan pass. We visited on the way to the Dead Sea and enjoyed the visit so we recommend a stop over to see the beautiful pieces.
