Enjoyed the display about all products featuring or named after Indians. Never knew there were so many. Beautiful museum with great staff. Especially enjoyed the children's area. Was only place in DC where we saw a place for smaller children. Very well done though some...More

After earlier visits to the Air and Space, and American History, museums, this Smithsonian came as a pleasant surprise. It lacks the wow factor of the other two but more than makes up for that with its exquisite collection of artefacts ranging in time and...More

Lots of information and interesting displays. You can definitely learn a lot there. But it's poorly designed. Much of the time I didn't know where an exhibit started or ended, where to go next, etc. It would be easy to miss something important.

Given the formidable offering of cultural sights in Washington DC, in retrospective I should not have tiered this museum among the first ones to visit. The building is architecturally impressive, modern, spacious, impeccably maintained. And this is almost all I can say of good. The...More

To curate this museum is a gargantuan undertaking. The idea is to represent the diversity of native peoples from the top of the Americas to the bottom. Even so, the museum does an excellent job at balancing between a multitude of groups across the continents...More

Loads of material for you to learn about American Indians, their culture art etc. However, not the most exciting museum in that everything seems a little static. Definitely worth a visit though.

I had a limited amount of time at the National Museum of the American Indian, so I just visited one exhibit which focused on the Inca trail. I wasn't exactly clear on how this theme fit with the museum's focus on the American Indian, but...More

Don't waste your time here! Sadly this Museum of the American Indian falls way short of being anything more than a Gift Shop & Cafe on the first level... and another larger gift shop on the second level. These stores sell the typical south western...More

I would allow as much time as you did for the Museum as you did for the Holocaust museum. You should plan to eat at the cafe, delicious authentic food.
