My husband has always wanted to visit Multnomah Falls, so we drove down while we visited family in WA. I have to say that this area is a MUST for everyone that loves outdoors, waterfalls, and just to take in the fresh air. So many...More

Just looking, walking/hiking a bit, and absorbing what you see is all you need to do to enjoy the gorge and its vistas. If you wish, it will help you understand what you're seeing if you read ahead and know something about the basic gorge...More

There are numerous waterfalls so don't spend too much time at the Multnomah Falls. The best view of the Vista House is from the Women's Forum. You can hike from Wenkeena to Multnomah if there is no parking at the latter. It's a short hike.

Be on time or in the afternoon, than there are less people. A climb to the top of the Multnomah Falls is more than worth it.

Going out of Portland toward Sherrard viewpoint, you will pass through beautiful scenic road up to the point. You have to walk for 15 minutes with some stairs but it is really worthwhile the effort when you look at the beautiful mountains. You can then...More

The view really is pretty. There is very little walking or hiking necessary to see the waterfalls. Most can be seen from the parking lots.

We went for the near-the-road waterfalls and we were surprised by the variety of waterfalls that we experienced with minimum effort. And we did manage to find parking space despite being august (weekday). The only busier spot was the Multnomah Falls where parking was not...More

In reply to: "Is there an entrance fee," the short answer is "No." But with that said, it could be misleading. The Columbia River National Scenic Area overlaps 1000's of acres in both Washington and Oregon states. In... More
