The preInca cultures here were highly developed and this museum contains the amazing artifacts from the tomb of the Moche lord of Sipan. The museum is dimly lit to enhance the displays. Take your time and enjoy this.

This museum opened in 2013 is certainly well worth a visit. About 90% is in Spanish so a good guide is essential. All of the artifacts are the originals and because there is a very large collection of gold, silver and other priceless items, the...More

The photographs of the actual burial sites as they were opened and the juxtaposition of the actual artifacts found at each site is mind-blowing. Here is a case where the grave robbers had not gotten to the graves before they were discovered. It's worth a...More

I have recently visited this museum. I was quite disappointed as most of the things has been written in Spanish. No available english translation. You can't really appreciate and learn about this culture, unless you are fluent in Spanish. I have asked to use my...More

Lots of historical artifacts, as well as being shown as they were laid out when found. Many different types of items, as well as much information in an easy to see and understand format.

The museum is well off the beaten track, but really is fantastic. Up there with Tutankhamun’s treasures. No cellphones or cameras at all. A must see if you’re in northern Peru!

From Chiclayo it’s only a few minutes drive away, maybe half an hour. Lambayeque is like a suburb of Chiclayo. The hotel will certainly be able to call you a taxi, so getting there and back shouldn’t be a problem.
