This old fortress is massive! The construction is inspiring. Touring the grounds and different levels were dizzying. Bring water because it is very hot in there. The views were so incredible you have to see for yourself

I agree with other comments. I have been in Puerto Rico three times since this fall, and I felt perfectly safe, at all times, in Old San Juan. I am certain there are parts of the island that are less safe, but that is true of any place. Still, my son lives there so I have spent a lot of time in the area , always feeling safe and respected. I was there alone for a couple of days as well- still felt safe and no inappropriate remarks. In fact I found everyone as vert friendly and I felt safer than I do in most American cities..
