    What to Expect
Depending on the tour option chosen, either begin your day with pick-up from your central Christchurch hotel between 9-9.30am, or make your own way to the rafting base by 11.30am. Once everyone has arrived, your instructor will take you through a safety briefing.
After the briefing, get suited up in your wetsuit, life jacket and helmet, and head out to the river to get started. Take the time to master basic manoeuvres under the guidance of your instructor, then set out on a thrilling 2- to 2.5-hour rafting adventure. Work together with your team to paddle downstream, tackle the hair-raising rapids and navigate rocky outcrops, and soak up the magnificent scenery of the Rangitata gorge along the way.
Back on dry land, head back to the lodge to warm up with a hot shower and get changed, before sitting down for dinner. After re-fuelling with a hearty BBQ feast (included) and admiring the action shots taken by your photographer (available to purchase), your day finishes around 5-5.30pm, after which you can make your own way back to the city, or enjoy drop-off back at your Christchurch hotel.
Please note: All equipment is provided, but you will need to bring a swimsuit to wear under your wetsuit and a towel. Tours are weather dependent, but run most days from October through to May.

Thoroughly enjoyable briefing, great pre social bar, funny banter on the bus from Canadian Dylan, Yes Dan was a legend taking us down the rapids. Epic scenery, facilities and white water. Perfect combination of Adrenalin, safety, instruction, banter and laughter. Superb effort Deano and crew.

This was a really good trip, lots of fun, great water, good guides. Lots better than Queenstown trip, but water was low on the Shotover R, and not sure if they really should have been running the trips.

They don't. There is only a portion of the river which is Grade 5. Even then, I think there is an element of risk. If you prefer a gentler river, try rafting at Hammer Springs. It is about 3 hrs by car or coach north of... More
