Cheong Fatt Tze George Town Penang: The Blue Mansion Guided Tour

    What to Expect
While monumentally traditional in design, the Blue Mansion's eclectic architecture exemplifies 19th-century Malaysia, when the British Empire and Chinese kingdoms converged. Use your admission ticket for a guided tour, conducted three times daily.
You'll wander through opulent courtyards and rooms once belonging to Cheong Fatt Tze, a legendary figure who held the monikers of 'Rockefeller of the East,' 'J.P. Morgan of China,' and the 'Last Mandarin and First Capitalist of China.'
Discover the architectural intricacy of his beloved mansion and the labor of love that went into the restoration of this now-iconic hotel. Learn how the design of the Blue Mansion demonstrated both Cheong Fatt Tze’s deepening fascination with Western artisanship and his rising stature as a Chinese official.

Sally’s witty, professional and attention drawing guided tour perfectly matched the charme and the history of the mansion. Our tour came to a perfect end with the suggested pineapple ginger lime drink at the bar.

I knew next to nothing about the blue mansion and its owner, but this changed after a tour around with Sally. The tour was extremely informative, fun and made me laugh. Really enjoyed my time here and a really reasonable entry price.

It is inevitable that one would compare the two Baba-Nonya mansions in George Town and, having seen both, if you have only time for one I would choose the Penang Peranakan Museum. However, if you do have time for two then the Blue Mansion is...More
