Begin with pickup at your Penang city or beach hotel, and travel to the Penang Hill funicular in a private, air-conditioned vehicle. Ride the funicular to the 2694-foot (821-mt) summit, a five-minute trip with views down the hillside and to the coast. Take a walk on the cool, breezy hilltop, once a Hill Station during British Colonial rule—a popular activity is to catch a buggy to see houses from the turn of the century.
Head downhill towards Kek Lok Si, or Temple of Paradise, the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia. Take in architecture that combines Malaysian, Thai, and Burmese influences. Stand at the base of the 99 foot (30 mt) Goddess of Mercy Statue, then climb up the 7-tiered ‘Thousand Buddha Pagoda,’ and watch the vegetable eating turtles in the ‘Pond of Longevity.’
Take a funicular ride back to the bottom of Penang Hill, and finish the day with return transfer to your Penang hotel.
