Overview

Paddle through the bayous of Louisiana on this kayaking tour of the Manchac and Maurepas swamps. Trade the bustle of the Big Easy for the lush serenity of cypress forests located just a short drive away from New Orleans. No kayak experience is needed to enjoy a voyage through these lush, wildlife-rich wetlands. Optional transportation means you can visit without renting a car.

What to Expect

Depending on transport option selected, meet at the launch location or get picked up at a central New Orleans meeting point for the 45-minute drive outside the city. After a safety briefing and basic paddling instructions, climb aboard a tandem kayak and launch into the swamp with a guide and small group of no more than eight (single kayaks are available for odd-number groups).

Feel a world away from Bourbon Street as you paddle on the calm waters that wind through the moss-draped cypress forests of the Maurepas and Manchac swamps. During your approximately 2 hours on the water, learn about the wetland ecosystem and keep an eye out for native Louisiana wildlife including the famous American alligator.

great time

The swamp was beautiful, interesting bio system and our guide, Kelly, was informative and very personable. Just the right length of time to see and appreciate everything. Would definitely recommend this for outdoorsy folks.

An afternoon of Kayaking through the Manchac Swamp was a great way to spend an afternoon while visiting New Orleans. This tour was a different kind of adventure than we had ever been on- paddling through a swamp is not something you get to do...More

Beautiful, Easy, Paddle in the Bayou!

We had a fabulous time kayaking and marveling at the Cypress trees. We saw a little bit of wildlife, a little frog and some pretty birds, but there wasn't much else. Clearly, this wasn't at all the fault of our guide or his company. He...More

1) We were on the water about 1.5 hours. 2) We booked directly from the website 3) Wr had several have a rental car and meet us. The guide gives directions to you when you book, but they are also listed on the website.

Not at all. I was worried about this myself but when we were there it felt very safe and the alligators are not aggressive at all. Most of them are also not very big and like to avoid human traffic. Gators are hunted over... More
