Nice tour; wish bus was less packed
Apr 2018 • Couples
We had just spent a week on the American Queen Steamboat Co tour from Memphis down to New Orleans so each town you'd get off in a town and get on a big comfortable bus to tour towns...silly us we had some expectations.

Good news, they will schedule a pick up from the hotel you are in so you don't have to fuss about meeting someplace. Bad news: the bus was a van; worse news it was going to be packed full of folks with little elbow room.

We had a nice driver/tour guide and at least the other passengers were not jerks so all got along but it was a tight ride...

OK, so we get to Laura Plantation and it is not like any other Plantations you have seen. A Cajun household is built without a large central hallway and folks all live in little rooms together. Unlike the other tours we get out and see the slave cabins and work areas. This is not so grand a site so it is much more real to me.

Contrast that with Oak Alley, the spitting image of what I think of when I think "plantation" and it is on a larger scale. This is cool as it has a bar and food! However, it is the trees that are the star of the show.

Roll on back into New Orleans and we get the 50 cent tour of town as we move around some parts of town I've not seen & hear some wacky stories.

All in all, it was worth the ride.

This is not a tour as stated, just transport
Don't bother with this company if you are looking for a tour. They had a van and a driver to take us to Laura and Oak Alley plantations. All the information we got was from the guided tours provided by the plantations. Their prices are not cheap considering the minimal service they provide.
Quite a disappointing experience....

Bus driver was terrible; use a different tour company.

Only 1 star for Louisiana Tour Company.

The local guides at the plantations were excellent; but the bus tour driver for Louisiana Tour Company was horrible.

Maybe the bus microphone was broken. But the entire time we were on the bus, we could not hear a single comment or piece of info about:
a) the area we were passing thru
b) any history or interesting facts about what were going to see
c) anything at all

I think the driver was speaking on the trip out, but from our position in the bus (about half-way back), we could hear nothing. If she was talking, then only the 1st row or 2 could hear her.

Tour is good but use another tour company
Oct 2017 • Couples
We paid a deposit to our hotel and then the rest to the driver. When we arrived we were told prices went up and I had to pay another 4.00. He was also 1/2 hour late for pickup in the French Quarter. Do this tour BUT REMEMBER THIS: Louisiana Tour Company only provides transportation to the plantations. You can get that anywhere. The tours themselves are run by the plantations and if you have your own transport there, you don't need this tour company. The driver spoke on the way but we were in the back and he had no amplification so we didn't hear anything he said. The tours were great and this is set up to review the tours so while I give the tours themselves a good review, I'd give 1 star to Louisiana Tour Company.

So much history and beauty!
Oct 2017 • Couples
My husband and I visited Louisiana for a week long trip and toured the Oak Alley and Laura Plantations about mid-week. Both plantations had stunning scenery and so much information. Oak Alley was very nice because it had several small exhibits to see, most of which were at your leisure, expect for the inside tour of the home. Our guide Lacey was fun and energetic and was very well-informed regarding the history of the home, the land, and the families who owned it. The tour of Laura Plantation was a fully-guided tour, taking a little more time to focus on the family, with a lot of emphasis on the term "creole" and the discord between family members, slaves, and the relationships intertwining all of them. Our tour guide was Logan, and he provided a great deal of insight on life at the plantation based off the memoirs of the homeowner's daughter, Laura. I would highly recommend doing both tours! Great comparison of the American plantation and the Creole plantation with lots of interesting information!
