About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- arielrn20170 contributionsFabulous food tourOur tour of Pier 57 was awesome. Patrick was our tour guide and I have to say I think he was the best food tour guide we have ever had. We sampled from many of the food stands and he knew the background of each company but also how the food was cooked and what made each unique. He was also well versed in NY history and history of the surrounding areas. Our dietary preferences weren’t a problem either. We had such a great time and were so FULL! We didn’t need to eat anything the rest of the day. We would definitely do another tour with Patrick and Ahoy food tours!Written 7 March 2024
- labladyb0 contributions50th Birthday Italian Progressive Dinner TourIf you've every been on a tour of (any kind), you know that the tour guide truly "makes or breaks" the experience. This rule was followed 100% during our Private Progressive Italian Food Tour with our tour guide, Liz on Friday night. From start to finish Liz made our experience FANTASTIC by giving us history, current information, and most importantly delicious food and drink from a variety of different Italian restaurants that have stood the test of time in NYC's Little Italy. We truly enjoyed everything this tour had to offer and would most definitely recommend it as a fun and unique experience for groups that are looking for something special as a celebration or fun night out. Also, a shout out to Alana who helped me organize all the details of the tour. I really appreciated her help!Written 4 February 2024
- Wendy S0 contributionsHIghly recommended food and history tour of Chinatown and Little ItalyThis tour was fantastic! Our guide, Patrick, did an outstanding job discussing the salient points regarding the historic nature of our sites, ensuring we were eating authentic cuisine prepared by local restaurants, answering all of our questions while keeping us perfectly paced with the time. We were very full by the end but couldn't resist the perfect cannoli at our last stop!Written 29 January 2024
- Jordan J0 contributionsGreat Guide & Great FoodHighly recommend this tour for tourists and locals! Our group was all local NYers who find it difficult to navigate Chinatown in terms of where to go and what to order! Ahoy tailored a tour for us and Valerie was an incredible tour guide. It’s a really smooth tour, lots of food, and you get to cut all the long wait times! Highly recommend.Written 25 January 2024
- Companion126716375960 contributionsFood, Knowledge, Conversation, and Food!Loved the detailed knowledge! Thank you for the introduction to new foods and a new neighborhood of the city. - Daydream293852286800 contributionsWhy sit in a restaurant when you can enjoy lunch on this great food tour!I'm a New Yorker who is always eager to try new food experiences and learn new things about my hometown. Market 57 is a new venue on Pier 57 on the exciting west side of Manhattan near the Highline. It is a large, airy space with about 17 food stalls and plenty of places to sit and enjoy your meal. Liz led us through 7 tastes, while explaining the unique backgrounds of the chef/owners. She took us on a tour of the building where we learned the history of this great community space and enjoyed beautiful views of Little Island Park, downtown Manhattan and New Jersey. Liz was so knowledgeable and her enthusiasm infectious! It was a great way to spend a cloudy, cold afternoon - indoors enjoying great food with a fun group of people!Written 7 January 2024
- Amy K0 contributionsSign up to deliciously explore Market 57!I had the privilege of going on Ahoy Food Tour’s inaugural Market 57 tour yesterday. It was a delicious introduction to a wonderful space that supports women and minority owned food concepts. A different style food tour- all the tastes were housed in one location! This tour is a perfect introduction to the vendors and the space! We walked down the high line to get here, across from Chelsea Market, roof top view of Little Park.Written 7 January 2024
- tinfinn19660 contributionsLittle Italy tasting tourWe booked a private food tour and our guides were great. The food was amazing. Walk from tasting to tasting and experience the ambiance of little Italy. Plenty of food by the time the tour was finished.Written 12 December 2023
- Christopher D0 contributionsBoo & Chick- the navigational challenged couplePatrick was wonderful! Very engaging , friendly and encouraging discourse. Extremely informative about the history of Five Points , including Chinatown and Little Italy. We ended up almost 15 minutes late to start the tour and he was kind enough to make sure we did not miss out on anything told us what we missed and even brought our food and drink from the first three stops we missed The food choices were outstandingWritten 10 December 2023
- Sarah B0 contributionsWhat’s not to like?!x😬Brilliant tour. Our lovely guide Liz was very knowledgeable and friendly. A great way to spend a few hours visiting Chinatown and Little Italy. Food tasting was very good, and there was lots to try. Would definitely recommend this tour.Written 6 December 2023
- LadyRph0 contributionsAwesome tour and tour guide!I would have never visited Chinatown or Little Italy by myself or with a few family members. This tour made it possible for my daughter and myself to visit, learn more about the history and culture, and taste some fantastic food! Liz is an awesome guide and is very knowledgeable about both cultures. I would highly recommend this tour, and who knows, you may be lucky enough to have Liz as your tour guide!Written 3 December 2023
- jonzo880 contributionsGreat tour! Vague text infoIt's so convenient that Ahoy gives text info notifications for their meeting location, but it was a little misleading :-( They texted to meet at a specific intersection, when in fact the tour origin was a specific restaurant address that was listed in fine print in the email confirmation. Why give vague instructions in the text that is most likely the source of info for most tour goers? Simply include the address and no one will be left behind! That being said, our tour guide Liz was friendly, entertaining, very knowledgeable and passionate about the tour - my teens and I were enthralled, entertained and educated to boot!Written 30 November 2023
- amandarB3283GJ0 contributionsFantastic food walking tour!We attended the walking food tour of Little Italy and Chinatown led by Valerie. It was a small group size, which was ideal because we could hear everything that Valerie was saying and it meant things went faster than on a larger tour. Valerie provided some really great information on the two districts, both about the food and the history. The food was delicious! We had eight samples, and left feeling full. Overall, we were really impressed and would recommend to anyone! (Also, at the end of the tour, Valerie walked us to the subway stop we needed to move on to our next activity, which we felt really went above and beyond).Written 23 November 2023

When I first booked this tour, I assumed the portions would be small. Boy was I wrong as both my partner and I left with full tummies. We started the trip at a cafe and had a journey through both towns, learning about the history as we ate a variety of dishes and snacks. Our group of 9 was fun and our tour guide made it even better. My advice, this tour is for history and food. I would leave time in your itinerary after to do your shopping. If by chance you are still hungry after the tour, prices for food are cheap but taste amazing. Ask the tour guide for their recommendations.
Thanks Patrick for making our trip!

What a fun experience, and what a perfect way to explore a quintessential NYC neighborhood. Two of us had been to New York several times, and two of us had never been, and all of us got so much out of the tour: the stories, the history, the cultures, and the food! Zoe was fantastic, and really gave us the context and background of the neighborhoods and food purveyors so that we could appreciate how it was all woven together with the history of the city. Highly recommend.

My 19 year old son and I had a great time! He was reluctant to do a "touristy" activity while in NYC for the weekend but changed his mind very quickly once we got going. Maryana was awesome! Her enthusiasm for the subject was infectious and she balanced history / culture / food talk perfectly. Loved exploring a part of the city we weren't familiar with, found spots we'll definitely return to, and really enjoyed every delicious thing we ate!! Go hungry! We will definitely do another one next time we're back in NYC, what a great way to spend a morning!

My wife and I really enjoyed this food tour! Zoe did a great job sharing the history of the area, culinary tidbits from Chinese and Italian culture, and making the best of the rainy day. The food was diverse, plentiful, and unique to the area. We also LOVED chatting and laughing with the other folks on the tour—honestly, the social aspect of the tour was just as good as the food! Not too much walking, plenty of restroom breaks, good opportunities for photos, and plenty of interesting information without it ever getting overwhelming. Overall, a worthwhile 3 hours in the lower east side!

On a whim I searched for food tours before our weekend trip to New York and found Ahoy and saw all of the amazing ratings. We booked with them direct to save a few bucks. I can't recommend this tour enough. It was a cold day in New York but our amazing guide Liz made sure we stayed inside as much as possible and found sunshine when outside. Not only was the food delicious but the history we learned along the way was fantastic. If you are considering this tour by reading this review, don't waste anymore time, just book it. It was a highlight of our time in the city. Loved learning more about Chinatown and Little Italy- such a great tour!

Exceptional host and brilliant food choices! This was our first food tour and after lots of research we were so pleased to book with Ahoy! Patrick our host was so welcoming and had great insights into the area. The selection of places to visit was brilliant and the day was made extra special with the owner of the final restaurant taking time to share stories of Little Italy with us. Would highly recommend as a great way to explore the area. My husband and I had a great morning!

Rather than visiting Little Italy or Chinatown on your own to go to a restaurant I highly recommend this tour to actually learn about the neighborhoods and sample numerous dishes. Our host Patrick was wonderful! Very knowledgeable and very respectful to the actual residents of the neighborhoods. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Zoe was the guide for our family of 4 and she did a spectacular job leading us thru Chinatown and Little Italy. She arrived early at our meeting location and had arranged for our first tasting, a cup of tea, to be served indoors as the day included some off and on rain showers.
Zoe was fully invested in our tour despite the weather and she shared many many interesting facts about both communities.
The food was perfectly planned and the restaurants were great choices. You won’t go hungry! We avoided the tourist traps and had a genuine opportunity to see both communities at their best.
Highly recommended.
Thanks Zoe.....we hope to see you again soon.

My wife and I took the Chinatown and Little Italy food tour because we wanted to explore the food in those neighborhoods but felt overwhelmed when we tried to start planning anything ourselves. We hoped the tour would give us a foundation that would make us feel comfortable further exploring these areas on our own and Ahoy's tour was precisely that.
Our guide, Patrick, was knowledgable both about the food but also about the history and culture of the neighborhoods we were exploring. It was clear that he had a good relationship with the various restaurant and shop owners to which we were introduced. He was a knowledgeable guide, not just about the various foods we were eating, but he also excitingly shared the history of these neighborhoods as we moved between restaurants. I would absolutely recommend this tour and guide to friends and would be excite to take advantages of other tours he conducted.

I believe there at 2 tours one at 10:30 and the other at 11:00. It’s a walking tour. But the walk is not far, and in level ground with many stops.the food is delicious, and takes the guess work on where to dine later. I went back to o e of the spots we tried the cheese, and bought more really good Parmesan cheese and procurator. The owner was feet friendly and helpful. I also returned one evening to have an early dinner at the Italian restaurant. Their eggplant parm was superb. Hope this helps. The whole tour takes about 1 1/2 hours. Well worth it

Do they evenly divide the amount of time to Chinatown and Little Italy? I want to make sure that I get to eat both Chinese and Italian food and not one more over the other.

Yes I feel it was pretty evenly split. Might have been 2 for Chinatown and 3 for little Italy but very much evenly distributed education and tastings.
