Blue and Golden ride!
We took the ferry from San Francisco to Sausalito via Angel Island and Tiburon. Nice scenic boat ride from San Francisco via Angel Island and Tiburon. The ferry was clean, good bathrooms, and a place to get snacks and a beer. Everyone was very nice and I highly recommend Blue and Gold.

Take a ride to Tiburon to wine taste in this beautiful town
Mar 2020
Ferry rides on the bay are always great (well-- not if there are huge waves and thick fog, maybe...) On sunny and clear days it's a great way to spend an afternoon. The boats are basic but they do have a bar so you can sip some wine while watching the sunset behind the Golden Gate Bridge or as you ride past other local attractions.

Most people get over to Sausalito, which is really beautiful. Fewer head to Tiburon, which is almost directly across from San Francisco. Tiburon is less crowded and has great views of the Golden Gate Bridge (if you walk down the waterfront park) and the best views of the city-- especially as the sun is going down.

Tiburon has 4 wine tasting rooms (with another on the way) so it's a fun excursion from the city. McEvoy was the first place we stopped. They sell their own wines plus a lot of olive oils, snacks, and wine paraphernalia. That's right on Main Street across from Sam's restaurant.

We headed next to Musette Atelier, which is larger and sells wines from many wineries. The setting is great here and the pours were incredibly generous. We tried 8-10 wines and each one was about a half glass. We were getting so looped we didn't make it to the last of the wine bars. Musette is a great place to stop. Really great woman pouring the wines and a great selection of wines to choose from.

The last wine place is Tiburon Wine, which is a great place to taste wine. They even have seating outdoors on Ark Row-- the cute addition to Main Street that has little shops in historic Victorian Era houseboats (arks) that were moored there and were landlocked when the shallow bay was filled.

If you want to grab some food there, there are a few good options. Sam's is the place to hang out in the sun overlooking the Bay and City and have cocktails (the food's pretty good but the drinks and views are better...) Luna Blue next door has good food and a decent view if you're outside. Salt and Pepper across the street has good food as well, but no view. Tiburon Lodge, just up Tiburon Blvd a block, has good food and a nice outdoor seating area. The best dinner is Don Antonio's, which is in one of the arks on ark row-- no views but cozy Italian food that's really good.

If you like to walk, head either way from the Ferry landing. Right along the green waterfront park will take you to Elephant Rock across from Angel Island. You'll get great views of the Bay, the GG Bridge and the City. If you go left through Main Street and Ark Row, you'll come to the small bay between Tiburon and the small town of Belvedere. The views are great and Belvedere is a really great place for a walk-- narrow stagecoach-era streets connected by long staircases running up the island. There are lots of historic houses and great view spots along the way (GG Bridge, Bay Bridge, Angel Island, SF, etc.-- it's really stunning.)

Enjoy Tiburon!

Golden opportunity to see Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco from a different perspective
Very user friendly. Purchased on line tickets to visit friend residing in Tiburon. The spacious “ferry” for passengers and cyclists sails by Alcatraz. Also get views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline from a different perspective! One quick stop at Angel island on the way to Tiburon and a quick stop in Saucelito on the return trip to pier 39. Plenty of space on decks 2 & 3 as well as on deck 1 where there is also a snack bar. Efficient and fun!

Great ride
Oct 2019 • Couples
Booked online. Easy to find. Great ride over to Sausalito good view of Alcatraz and bridge. Plenty of space on ferry and a great view of San Francisco from the water. They let riders on first bikes on first .it took about 45 min we sat up top and got a great view. But seat are limited so got on quick. We were heading to Muir woods shuttle at Sausalito which was close by to the ferry stop. Boarded shuttle then of to Muir woods. Got shuttle back after a great day out and waited about 45 minutes to board the ferry back to San Francisco has a great day

Lovely Trip to Sausalito via Angel Island and Tiburon
The trip to Sausalito via Angel Island and Tiburon was fantastic with wonderful views for the whole hour. We enjoyed the stops at Angel Island and spent time in Sausalito which was lovely, but the trip (admittedly we had good weather) there itself was surprisingly lovely too.

It takes an hour to Sausalito but 30 minutes back because it’s straight back to pier 41. Golden Gate ferries also operate to and from San Francisco and Sausalito but don’t stop at Angel Island or Tiburon; they do seem to partner well though, taking each other’s tickets if you wish to return on either ferry...

The schedule online is very misleading and confusing. It should be made into a chart type graph for better understanding. They basically write their schedule for residents and not tourists. We know because it makes assumptions we know what every destination is.
We were in vacationing in Sausalito. The first 3 ferries to SF were to the Port of SF. The next one was to Fisherman's Wharf. Then it alternated randomly throughout the day. Its a 30 minute ride. Its a 1.3 mile walk to Fisherman's Wharf from the Ferry Bldg/Port of SF. You get good views of the GG bridge and up close to Alcatraz.
The trolley/bus between them has no instructions for the 'F Line', doesn't take cash, requires an app or a digital ticket/card with no information to tell you where to get them. According to a couple locals, they said, "Just get on. We never pay for the bus." With our limited time, we went native and followed their lead. Then we caught the hour long ferry back to Sausalito from Pier 41.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your observation about the ferries and will consider making changes to pick up and drop off locations for tourists. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Sausalito. All best wishes, Dennis

A Great way to see the Bay area.
Sep 2019
We chose to use this form of transport to get from Sausalito across the bay and into San Francisco. the costs are reasonable and the journey delightful. It was far better than facing the drive into the city and the long traffic queues and the need for a parking space once there. The times are reasonable although it it worth doing a bit of research prior to travel as there are numerous early morning / later afternoon ferries, but less choice when travelling mid morning. Yes they do cater fro the commuter, so check the sailing times BEFORE you travel. The trip across the bay and into Pier 39, lasts only thirty minutes or so, but on most days the crossings are calm and provide an excellent opportunity to take that classic holiday snap of Alcatraz Prison, as the ferry does pass within a short distance of the famous island. The ride does also give you good views of the Golden Gate and Bay bridges, as well as views of downtown San Francisco. The ferries do get busy and do allow bicyclists to take their bikes on board, so sometime you do have to wait for all of these to be disembarked.
There are several ferries operating around the bay area and not all go to the tourist area - Pier 39. some take you to the ferry terminal which is not located at Pier 39, so be aware of your destination before boarding.
We also took the ferry around the bay area and enjoyed a peaceful cruise over to Angel Island and Tiburon. Well worth the time to see more of what can be offered in the bay area.
