Overview
If you’re a big history buff or just want to make your way around Charleston’s historic district without walking miles on foot, then opt for this guided tour. Travel up to 30 blocks on a horse-drawn carriage as your guide tells you fun facts about the city’s past. Plus, multiple tour times and a short duration time make it easy to fit this tour into your busy schedule.
What to Expect
For this tour of Charleston, meet your guide at the big red barn at Palmetto Carriage Works on Guignard Street. Once you check in, hop aboard an old-fashioned, horse-drawn carriage (it’s covered overhead, so do keep in mind that the tour happens rain or shine).

Ride through Charleston’s historic area, learning about the history of some of its old mansions as you ride along. Your guide will point out other key places such as St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and the Charleston County Courthouse.

Hear fascinating stories about the city, including pirate raids, the American Civil War, plantations, and even the Revolutionary War.

After cruising about 30 blocks, your tour ends back at the departure point.

Relaxing and informative

Justin was a good, humorous guide and this was a good way to start off our Charleston visit. Carriages go on different routes so you could see different things to other visitors.

Too little of the city seen, too little history, too much about the horse.

If you just love horse drawn carriage rides, you'll may like this SLOW MOTION TOUR OF A TINY CORNER OF CHARLESTON, with emphasis on the review of the care of the horses so they are not overworked. The history of the town, well, there were...More

Our guide was great and would be easy to hear, but that is based on one tour guide.
