    What to Expect
Make your way to the Edinburgh Dungeon. As you enter, allow yourself to be wrapped up in the grisliest events of Scotland’s long history. Live actors greet you at every turn, reenacting disturbing histories such as the botched hanging of Maggie Dickson and Dr. Knox’s gruesome anatomy theater. Come face-to-face with Sawney Bean, arguably the world’s most infamous cannibal – but try to keep your head (and your limbs) and not end up on the chopping block.

As you make the approximately 60-minute walk through the dungeons, experience highlights of Scotland’s horrible history through exceptional stages and special effects. Rile at the smells and sights of the plague and learn about the notorious ghosts in Scotland's haunted capital.

Cap off your visit with a heart-stopping experience on the Drop Dead ride. Then test your nerves as you become a victim at the gallows in Grassmarket. At the mercy of the hangman, experience the final moments of terror as the floor falls out from under you.

We all enjoyed our visit, learning about the dark past in an engaging humorous way via superb actors. Interaction with visitors and one or two 'rides' made this very enjoyable.

Had a brilliant time being accused of witchcraft, checked for the plague and scared to death!! Just drop yourself in, take part and enjoy yourselves.

We really enjoyed the Dungeons. People have complained about the actors, the decor, all sorts but I really think it is what you make of it. We went in expecting to be laughing, jumping, screaming and just wanted a good time and hopefully learn a...More

Hi Heales, The photo is always optional, but unless you let the staff know you don't want it by telling them they won't know - it is just a case of saying "no thanks!" - we might be a Dungeon, but sadly those folks that...More

Great interactive outing with the family. Acting brilliant and selecting ‘volunteers ‘ for each part of the tour great fun.

I genuinely can't remember how many stairs but it wouldn't be accessible by scooter.
