Must visit if you are around Valladolid.
Great knowledgeable guide and awesome local initiative to help the bees. Products made from honey were also really good, in short a good experience to learn and taste great products!

Interesting and unique attraction in Valladolid
Unique experience in Valladolid, and probably on any of your trips - visit a bee farm, and bees that you can get up close without wearing any protective gear! Also the staff were incredibly kind and went above and beyond. I left my backpack behind, and then drove 2 hours to Tulum before realising. They moved heaven and earth to find a solution to send my backpack to me in the following days, which I was very grateful for! There's also lodgings and restaurant on-site.

      Informative and fun excursion
Great short educational tourist attraction not raving. With tourists. Learn a lot about nature and the ancient Mayan relationship with their native honey bees. Fantactic array of a variety of species with an if to drive guide and lots of honey related gifts and treats at the end to buy. All ages can enjoy

      Unique Mayan Bee Experience 🐝
We really enjoyed the Bee tour and honey tasting. As someone with a personal interest in natural beekeeping this was an amazing irreplaceable experience. For the rest of my family who are just generally interested in bees, they also really enjoyed the tour and learned new things. The ability to observe the inside of several hives and see so many different kinds of bees in one place was extremely, extremely unique. Our guide Joel was excellent and shared a lot of information about different native plants and trees including their Mayan folklore that we couldn't have gotten anywhere else. His knowledge and enthusiasm for connecting with people really enriched our experience. The honey tasting was really extensive and we were legitimately excited to purchase some strong medicinal honey at really reasonable prices. Highly recommended!

      4pm bees and honey tour
Just a twenty minute walk south of the main square of Valladolid you will find this oasis of tranquility. We went twice: the first time was interrupted by a thunderstorm, but the second we managed to enjoy an interesting and informative tour of the dry cenote where the bees live. Mario told us a little of the culture of his ancestors, as well as the science and nature of bees and honey. Very friendly. (And very friendly people in the barrio San Juan as we walked to/from the main square… holas and buenos días from all).

      Super Mario!
Our tour guide, Mario was great - very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He took us (4 English speakers) around the place and gave us loads of interesting information about the place.

      Nice activity
Visit of the Mayan bees with a tasting at the end. The tasting was actually the best part as we could understand more differences, highly educational.

Very enjoyable, interesting tour with honey tasting
Very interesting and enjoyable tour set in the beautiful park at Xkopek, complete with a substantial amount of honey tasting. Well worth it at 150 pesos for a 2hrs tour in English & Spanish.

      Jorge gives a great tour.
This is an interesting place to visit. I liked all the information about the bees but especially liked seeing the dry cenote which is onsite. Super hot day but comfortable temp in the cenote. Tour was about 90 minutes. Jorge was our tour guide and also a family member of the people that began this business. Very knowledgeable, very enjoyable tour. At the end of tour Jorge provided a variety of honey tastings. Lots of honey based products. Entry was 150 pesos plus we tipped our guide. There's a restaurant on-site where we enjoyed lunch. Reasonable prices.

Day at The Mayan Bee Experience.
We had an enjoyable visit with a tour of the dry cenote, to see the natural hives and learn about the characteristics of Mexican bees as compared to British bees. The guide was very good. There is a nice shop to buy bee related products. We had bought a day pass which allowed us to use the pool and get a discount in the restaurant so it was good value. The pool is nice, with good showers, and there is also an area with hammocks. Definitely worth a visit

      A true Mayan treasure
I’m just back from a wonderful few hours at the Xkopek Parque Apicola, where I learned about the fascinating stingless bees that live, thrive, and make honey here at this family-owned Mayan preserve. The tour, offered several times a day in Spanish and English by a very knowledgeable guide, included a descent into the dry cenote where several species of bees (and wasps) have nests, a visit to see some of the hives, and a wonderful “tasting” of several kinds of honey and honey-based products at the end. I never tasted pollen before.

      Nectar of the gods honey!
We visited this Mayan bee collective as a family of 6. We took the tour and did the honey tasting afterwards. If you arrive between tours, they have hammocks and chairs to relax in. Our tour guide was clearly passionate about the four types of native Mayan bees. As a beekeeper, I was fascinated. The rest of my group found it interesting, despite not being interested in insects! It’s a great, relaxing hour in Valladolid.

Nice place to learn about bees
I love bees so I had to come here. Being able to see so many different kinds of bees living freely and being able to taste their products is an amazing experience. Recommended for anyone into Mayan culture and bees!

Very serene place, not really a "park" though
At first I was expecting a park (which here in Yucatan seem basically to be non-existent) and thus was a bit underwhelmed by what I saw _at first_. It's a privately owned place. Let me describe what you will find here: * a lot of trees, serenity and cute little huts and tents * wonderful people staying there, almost everyone extends their original stay duration * a very nice tour about bees every day at 08:30 with honeytasting afterwards for 120$ * a dry cenote (I think only accessible during the tour), not to swim * a beautiful pool area * some chicken and geese * a restaurant (which was veeery slow with our orders, didnt have the biggest choice of food, but the cacao was really good) * a shop where they sell honey and products derived from it * you can tent there for 250$ (I think they even have tents ready under a roof, but you can also bring your own) * a chapel. It's closed and I don't know when they open it. The whole vibe of this place was really good and I met lots of very conscious people there. Been there twice. If nothing else, I recommend the tour in the mornings ✌️

Our tour guide (a young lady) spoke very good English and it was very interesting to see a dry cenote and learn about and see the local bees. The tour included a nice and large meal (we had a late breakfast) so it's a good value. If you're in a rush, you could do everything in an hour probably, or spend 2 hours here if taking your time and relaxing, eating, etc. They also rent some rooms/bungalows here if you want a quiet stay in nature. I recommend this tour BUT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND putting on bug spray first because you will get eaten alive by the bugs if wearing shorts and flip flops. It was so bad in the outdoor eating terrace that we almost couldn't stay. It's a very humid and jungle type of natural environment here and they didn't have repellent available for guests. We saw many types of animal life such as birds, squirrels, and lizards. The honey tasting experience at the end of the tour was also very cool. We're glad we did this tour and recommend it.

This tour is magnificent. Danielle was our guide and she is extremely knowledgeable. She augmented the bee activity we were actually seeing in the dry cenote with videos and photos on her tablet. This helped us understand what was happening inside and outside the hive. She even pointed out a gum tree on the path to the cenote and explained how chewing gum is made from the tree sap. The honey/pollen tasting at the conclusion of the tour continued our education. A quick visit to the gift shop allowed us to bring home a few gifts for family and friends that they will actually use and enjoy. Not only do I highly recommend the tour, but I also loved the idea that on a future visit we could even rent a tent or structure and stay at the facility. This is an example of eco-tourism and conservation at its best.

The tour guides are very friendly and quick to answer all of our questions. We loved it so much we did the tour two days in a row! Each time we had a different tour guide, which was nice because each one covered slightly different information. We were lucky for the first tour it wasn’t raining and we got to go down into the dry cenote to see the natural hives. For the second tour it was too wet so they modified it for us and we got more of a tour of the museum specimen and the bees in boxes. Definitely worth visiting this place! The family and the employees are doing great work trying to preserve the native bees of the Yucatán!

We took the guided tour of the bees (several times available during the day to take the guided tour).
If, like us, you arrive between 2 visits (between 10 and 11:30 am), you can wait in the enclosure while enjoying a coffee/meal at the restaurant next door, lounging in a hammock, or walking in the gardens.

Our guide was very friendly and smiling, the explanations were very clear and it was very interesting.
The tasting at the end of the tour was superb and amazing. We were able to test different honeys and propolis, each with its own characteristics and benefits.

We were happy to give a small tip to congratulate our guide and also to contribute to preserve the ecosystem of the bees.

Xkopek should be a part of any visit to Valladolid, and is a great compliment to a trip to Chichen Itza, since the tour shows you how the local Mayans did (and still do) their honey production. It's really, really cool, the guides know their stuff and are genuinely invested in nature and the local flora and fauna. Great trip, and really, really inexpensive. (like 120 pesos, which is about 6 USD per person for a 1.5 hour guided tour)

It's in Valladolid, minutes from Centro. There is no reason not to check this place out, and every reason to do so!

So lucky to be the only one on the afternoon tour. The guide was very patient with all my questions about the bees, the dry cenote and vegetation, plus my wish to take photos of geological features. Who knew that here I would learn Pimienta de Tobasco is All Spice, not another type of black pepper. Lots of value added, with time for more detailed discussion about history of Mayan bee keeping and honey; aspects of bee habitat and interaction between different species; Mayan life today; and effects of climate change on vegetation and bee health to name just a few. His communication skills were excellent from the perspective of dispensing knowledge that one would retain. I can still remember the bee species and their habitats, two weeks after the tour!! Tasting session delicious and informative. Good selection of products in the store; only wish I had more room in my suitcase. The skin cream with royal jelly is wonderful.

A little gem of a place; very peaceful. Worth a second visit if you have the time.

We didn’t know what to expect on the beekeeping tour and we were more than pleased with Gerardo’s tour of the dried cenote, which was magical and story-bookish. He explained the lifecycle of the cenote which was super interesting. He showed us the bees native to the Yucatan and the plants and trees that provide nectar and pollen. I highly recommend the tour. It’s right in the city so easy to get to (recommend pairing it with visit to the fabulous Zaci cenote)

This tour is not only interesting but incredibly beautiful. You learn about the environment and nature but in a fun, entertaining way in which you are also full of questions to which you will learn the answers before the tour ends. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and kind, and they got me and my husband hooked up on loving bees, so much so we are planning to take other trips related to them.

As a plus, the sights are beautiful and being inside a dry cenote is an experience that I haven’t encountered anywhere else and I live in Yucatán.

    Highly recommend.

(The food and the honey tasting is great too!)

The bee tour was one of the best parts of our stay in Valladolid. The camp site is really beautiful and has a tropical feel with loads of nice plants. We learned so much about bees from the tour guide. She spoke excellent English and knew everything there was to know about all the bees! Their bee exhibition was really interesting and seeing all the different bees in their hive was an unforgettable experience. The honey tasting was a nice end to the tour. We highly recommend going to Xpokek for a bee tour

Forget the other over priced tourist attractions, this is where you want to visit! It is locally owned and it is clear the staff are passionate about their work. We had a delicious lunch and educationally tour. Big shout out to javier! Great guide and very knowledgeable.
