        Bravo.
Bravo. Well done. Thoroughly organized from start to finish. Ten stars with highly quality service and attention. The spice farm was a pleasant surprise with great food and inspiring people. Shadow was very knowledgeable and presented with a great Sprit. We will always remember him. The second half of the tour was awesome. Maddi made us feel comfortable and pushed through the tour despite rain. This is a once in a lifetime experience with great people, Food, culture, and love of Africa. Book now.

        Overpriced trip to sellers island
Overpriced trip with alot of salesmen on the island you go for lunch. The lunch was ok but everything is extra. Went to the three and took a picture of a cocnut crab and one of the guys there insisted that i had to pay for taking the picture. I told him to go …. Yourself. All the other people there felt thretend and payed up 5 dollars each for the pictures. The snorkeling was disepointing cause the visability is low, but if its your first time snorkeling is an ok experience i guess. The guide and the boatguys was cool people tho. But again, overpriced!!!

Lots of opportunities for getting in the water!
Full day trip. Swam at a sandbar, snorkelling x2 stops ( pretty good coral and fish but Blue Lagoon better if you only have time for 1 trip ) and swim at mangrove area. Great BBQ lunch and time for more swimming if you wished. Don't be put off by the number of people in each boat as you arrive, you spend most of the time in the water / on the beach. Everyone very friendly and it was well organised

Unsafe and not with a proper guide onboard!
This was a complete rip off. The guide from Zan Archepelago Tours and Safaris met us at our hotel and walked us to a local boatsman, who then took us out to the sad turtle island, where one gets the feeling that it's not really a sanctuary - it's a poorly kept petting zoo. The so-called "guide" that the boatsman had with him, had very limited knowledge of English, and the two had nothing to do with Zan Archepelago Tours. I could have paid 1/10 of the price directly to the boatsman, if I had wanted a plain haggling tour like this. I am super disappointed and had a very unprofessional experience, where our bench broke due to high seas and I also had to insist on them bringing life jackets for us! Once we started the boat trip, they realised that only one jacket was functional. They borrowed equipment for us through another boatsman. All in all a complete haggle and a complete fraud. Don't go on a boat trip with this company if you want a professional experience, that's for sure.

        Highly recommend
My boyfriend and I spent 5 days in Zanzibar and loved it. We went on two days of tours with Zan Archpelago Tours. We booked the first one through TripAdvisor and our guide was Ishmael. He was fantastic - super knowledgeable, personable and fun. We booked the second tour with this operator via WhatsApp because we couldn’t find an existing itinerary that covered everything we wanted, so this tour operator prepared an itinerary based on our specific preferences. Ishmael was so great that we requested him again for our second day. All the activities were so well organized and a lot of fun. Highly recommend Zan Archpelago and specifically Ishmael.

        Amazing Zanzibar with Ismail
I have wanted to visit Zanzibar since I was a kid. We got to do it this summer. I contacted them via WhatsApp and created a custom itinerary including stone town tour, Nakupenda and Safari Blue. Ocho was our driver from the airport pickup to airport drop off. What a great driver. What an amazing trip. It was as planned and Ismail was our guide and it was perfect! I would highly recommend Ismail and the team. Don't hesitate, Do it !

        Not the best experience
The guide did not explain the history of prison island well. After verifying with Google it seemed the story was incorrect. We were left at the tortoise place alone while others had a guide. It felt as if we did not have a guide. Our tour was also shorter than expected - 3 hours we finished in 2 hours. No mineral water was provided and snorkeling was only proposed after we asked.

Experience the spices and fruits on this mini tour
I have not been to the spice farms around Stone Town but being on the East coast, this place was the closest. A quite modest plot but contained many many examples of the spice and fruit grown in Zanzibar. It took around 90 minutes and ended with drinking fresh coconut ant being presented with woven palm adornments 😃We were knowledgeablely guided around by our guide and his two understudies. Interactive with lots to taste touch and smell.

Amazing trip to Prison island and I Nakupenda island
We booked a day trip to prison island and to Nakupenda island (sand bank). We paid extra for a transfer from our hotel near Kendwa Beach to stone town which was $80 including return. The boat took us to both islands. The tour guide at Prison island was very informative and helpful we also got to feed the tortoises. We went on to Nakupenda island which was beautiful ! where they prepared use a beautiful BBQ lunch which tasted incredible and we got to swim and take pictures. Definitely worth the money and was affordable. The staff was very friendly and helpful :)

Fantastic day trip to see highlights around Stone Town
Fantastic day with Ismael from Zan Archipelago tours. It was a long day but we loved each part to it. Ismael made the day fun and interesting with his knowledge and good humor. The day was paced just right, starting with the spice gram with a very tasty lunch and great information about individual spices and their uses followed by a visit to seethe large tortoises when the place was less busy in the afternoon. The final hour and a half in Stone Town was then at the end of the day and we particularly found the slave museum very interesting but tragic of course. We were a group of 4 adults and this trip is definitely worth the long day.

        great all encompassing tour.
This is a great tour to get in all the stops in one package. Mady was a great tour guide and very knowledgable. We had rain at the spice farm which is out of everyone's control but they were ready to accommodate us in shelters. the meal at the spice farm was delicious. The history provided on Zanzibar at the church stop and the information on the slave trade was very interesting.

Very informative excursion. The spice tour was great, our instructor made up a game while introducing each spice which made it more interesting. Mady did a great job retelling Zanzibars extensive history all while making it fun. Would recommend for the stone town and prison tour portion of the trip to bring a fan and bottle of water.

The spice farm experience was a poor one with this company.
First of all, it was way overpriced. Secondly, the tour guide and the information he gave out, seemed very random and not very professional. He made inappropriate nationality jokes and made faces when we did not know some spices or fruits and was verbal about how is it possible certain plants we had never seen or it did not grow in cold climates. He seemed bored during the job. Quite arrogant behaviour and there hopefully are better guides. The tour was supposed to last 4-5 hours but we were back in Stone Town in a bit over 3 hours, so it felt very rushed.
The spices and the garden was well kept - seemed to be only for tourism purposes, though. Fruit tasting was nice! We could eat all sorts of tropical fruits.
The prices of the spice farm's soaps and spices 2-5x higher than of Stone Town's market
Overall for this price and description, we were not satisfied. Probably possible to get the same tour for at least half off when bought from the spot.

It was ok. The guides are nice, it's interesting to see the spices and plants fresh. Lunch is not luxury but fine. The guys making you crowns and hats and bracelets as you walk around are going to want a tip, so be ready for that. There will be someone selling soaps and perfumes, so be ready for that. At the end there will be spices to purchase so be ready for that. The soaps, perfumes and spices can be found in Stone Town at Darajani Market and other stalls for less but if you're pressed for time, it's a nice looking selection.

This was an extremely fun and fruitful tour. We learned so much about spices and fruits grown on the island and even got to feel, smell and taste many of the popular ones. All ended in a delicious lunch (made with many of the spices) and a perfect fruit tasting. The guides were on time and very knowledgeable, even accommodating to children. Very professional with a good sense of humor. This tour is a must for your first trip to the island.

Yussuf picked us up on time at our hotel, and his friendly driver drove us out to the Jambo Spice Farm. Yussuf was knowledgable and chatty, without being overbearing. Once we'd arrived, another person from the spice farm joined us to assist Yussuf with picking from the trees etc.

You should know that this isn't a real farm. It is set up for tourists. There is a lot of cringey/touristy stuff like making hats out of leaves, a man climbing a coconut tree while singing a song, fruit tasting etc. However, most of the spice farms on Zanzibar are like this. It was still a very enjoyable and interesting morning, and we learnt a lot about how many spices are grown, and the spice industry in Zanzibar. Yes, it's very touristy (and I normally hate that stuff), but I think it was worthwhile, considering how important spices are to Zanzibar. Thanks Yussuf!

Mady and his mate gave us a fun tour through the richness of a tropical herb farm. It was great to discover how the plants of well known spices look like and how they serve the society. The tour had good pace and we laughed a lot. They serve fruits and a delicious meal at the end and we also saw a guy climb a coconut tree. Don't miss out on this experience if you have the chance.

Mady is a very outgoing, knowledgeable and fun tour guide! He was very accommodating and flexible as we booked our spice tour on late notice. His driver was on time and picked us up in a very large and clean van (which had seatbelts - as those can be somewhat uncommon in Africa) and we took a very beautiful drive about 30 minutes outside of Stone Town to the spice farm. My mom and I ask a lot of questions, and we’re quite knowledgeable as my dad is a horticulturalist, and we were very impressed with both Mady and his friend’s knowledge - they made us beautiful baskets out of the plants and we peeled fresh cinnamon bark off the tree and tasted many fresh spices and fruits! All in all my mom and I were traveling for about a month and while we had many fantastic tours and experiences - this was one of the best. We would recommend Mady as a tour guide to anyone, 100% 😊 Thanks again Mady!!
